Are you eager to make a meaningful impact in the Titirangi community? Join us in shaping the future of the Titirangi Community House! We're seeking 1-2 dedicated individuals to volunteer as Board Members (Management Committee).

Titirangi Community House (TCH) is more than just a building; we're a hub of vibrant activity, offering a diverse range of programs and workshops to enrich the lives of our residents. From arts and crafts to fitness classes, educational courses, and counselling support, we cater to the varied needs of our community. Our School Holiday Programme alone provides care to over 1,500 children annually, demonstrating our profound impact.

What commitment is required? We meet 10 times annually, on the first Tuesday of each month, for a two-hour duration, along with an annual AGM scheduled in October. Additionally, participation in some of the events we organise, such as movie nights, BBQs, and the mid-winter dinner, is appreciated. Our Management Committee gatherings are characterised by positivity, liveliness, and mutual support, with each member actively contributing to discussions, drawing from their diverse expertise. This commitment is for a two-year term, with potential for extension.

Ideally, you will be passionate about West Auckland and have an understanding of non-profit organisations. We're committed to reflecting our community's rich diversity therefore if you have strong ties to our Pasifika, Asian, Indian, or Māori communities or offer a valuable younger perspective, we encourage you to apply. And if you have legal, human resources, property, governance, or community engagement skills, your expertise would be highly valued as we work together to serve our community.

Come and learn the magical art of Kintsugi with Artist in this new Workshop. You can bring along a piece of your own pottery to restore in this beautiful style. (I'll also have a few as back up if you don't have your own piece) (All Levels)

Sunday 14th June - 9:30 -11:30am

Have you ever wanted to try Kintsugi.... It's an ancient Japanese art form where you fix broken pottery with gold - making its imperfections its beauty. - A truly wonderful philosophy to live by. Nothing is ever really broken but new life and meaning is brought back making your piece a work of art and truly something special. You can also apply this technique on various materials like glass, wood, greenstone and shells.

It's called kintsugi (金継ぎ), or kintsukuroi (金繕い), literally golden (“kin”) and repair (“tsugi”). This traditional Japanese art uses a precious metal – liquid gold, liquid silver or lacquer dusted with powdered gold – to bring together the pieces of a broken pottery item and at the same time enhance the breaks.
You will take away your wonderful finished work, plus your new skills which will enable you to further your own Kintsugi in your own time.
This class is not just for budding or accomplished artists. It is for everyone to enjoy a relaxing day of art and design with Ema.

What you will take away:
A finished artwork piece
An understanding of Kintsugi
Knowledge and History of this beautiful art form.
