🫀🫁🧠 Exploring the Amazing Human Body! 🧠🫁🫀

This term, our tamariki have been diving deep into the world of Science as they learn all about the human body.

From discovering how our hearts pump blood around our bodies, to understanding how our lungs help us breathe, our students have been building their knowledge across many different learning areas.

Some of the highlights have included:
🥗 Learning how food fuels our bodies through Garden to Table
🎨 Creating artwork inspired by human anatomy
📚 Reading, researching, and writing about body systems and healthy choices
🫀 Exploring the circulatory system and how to keep our hearts healthy
🫁 Investigating the respiratory system and the importance of healthy lungs
🧠 Learning about the nervous system and the amazing work our brains do every day
💬 Discussing hygiene, wellbeing, and body changes in age-appropriate ways

At Edendale, we work hard to connect learning across different curriculum areas so that knowledge is meaningful and memorable. Our teaching is guided by evidence-based approaches, including the Science of Learning and Explicit Direct Instruction (EDI), helping students build strong foundations for future learning.

We are incredibly proud of the curiosity, enthusiasm, and thoughtful discussions our learners have shown throughout this unit.

What an exciting morning at Edendale!

Today we officially opened our new rainbow tubular slides, a fantastic addition to our playground that is sure to bring joy and fun to our tamariki for years to come.

As part of the opening ceremony, our student House Leaders drew the names of ten lucky students who had the honour of being the first to experience the slides. There were plenty of smiles, excitement, and cheers as they took their inaugural ride!

Our Principal, Jonathan, also joined in the celebrations and had a turn on the slide himself, much to the delight of the students.

A special thank you to the Friends of Edendale (PTA) and Eve, one of our dedicated parents, for their incredible efforts in raising funds to make this project a reality. Your commitment and generosity have created a wonderful new space for our tamariki to enjoy.

We are thrilled to see our students already making the most of this colourful and exciting addition to our playground. Check out some photos from this morning's opening ceremony below!

We are embracing opportunities to learn and use Gagana Sāmoa, celebrate Samoan culture, and honour the rich contributions of our Samoan community.

Kia ora Edendale whānau,

Due to the weather forecast for Auckland tomorrow, we have made the decision to postpone the opening ceremony of our Rainbow Tubular Slides.

We will work with the Friends of Edendale (PTA) to set a new date and time for the event and will share this information with our community before the end of this week.

Thank you for your understanding and support. We look forward to celebrating this exciting addition to our playground together very soon.

Ngā mihi
