🚨 Testing testing, one two three! This Sunday 14 June between 6–7pm, a nationwide Emergency Mobile Alert (EMA) test will be sent to all capable mobile phones across Aotearoa.

📱 Heads up, Tāmaki Makaurau! Don't be startled this Sunday evening - your phone is going to make some noise, and that's totally expected.

🗓️ This Sunday 14 June between 6–7pm, a nationwide Emergency Mobile Alert (EMA) test will be sent to all capable mobile phones across Aotearoa. You'll hear that distinctive emergency tone - but rest assured it's just a test by NZ Civil Defence.

This testing allows our National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to evaluate the system, cell tower performance, and the ability for mobile phones to receive the alert.

🚨 So what does this mean for you? If you have a capable mobile phone across the Auckland region, your device will ring the distinctive emergency tone between these times.

If the alert sound affects your mental health or wellbeing, we recommend turning off any devices with a SIM connection between 6-7pm on Sunday 14 June, or putting them into flight mode.

👉 Head to OurAuckland to find out more, and how you can use the test as a time to talk to whānau and friends about emergency preparedness: https://ourauckland.aucklandcouncil.govt.nz/news/2026/06/nationwide-emergency-mobile-alert-test-taking-place-sunday-14-june/
