🔥 Rubbish truck fire in Avondale

A fire broke out in a rubbish truck in Avondale this morning, luckily no one was hurt thanks to the driver’s fast action! 🧯

The likely cause was a battery or rechargeable device (like a phone, v**e, or power bank) thrown into a kerbside bin. These items can ignite easily and put people and property at serious risk.

🚫 Never put batteries in your bins.

Drop them off safely at designated recycling points:
https://www.aucklandcouncil.govt.nz/en/rubbish-recycling/get-rid-unwanted-items.html

Check it before you chuck it.

What do you think about the skateparks and skate spaces in our neighbourhood? Whether you skate, scoot, ride BMX, roller skate, or use mobility wheels—Auckland Council wants to hear from you.

A new regional skatepark plan is being developed to help guide how skateparks across Tāmaki Makaurau are planned, upgraded, and connected in the future.

They’d love to hear:
🛹 how often you use skateparks
🛴 what activities you do there
🚲 what equipment you use
💬 any challenges or barriers you experience

Your feedback will help shape future skatepark planning, design and upgrades across Auckland!
