Devonport Toy Library is a not-for-profit organisation that has been part of the North Shore community for 25 years. Open Saturdays 9-11am.

Our aim is to provide the children with a wide range of quality toys to support their early learning and have fun!

🎉 We're Open Again This Saturday! 🎉

The renovations at the Community House are now complete, and we're excited to welcome everyone back to the Devonport Toy Library this Saturday!

A huge thank you to our members and community for your patience while the work was being carried out.

We can't wait to see all your smiling faces back at the toy library. Come in, say hello, return your borrowed treasures and stock up on some new toys, games and puzzles for the weeks ahead!

The toy library will be closed this Saturday as we continue to return the toys to their cupboards following the recent renovations at the community house. We apologize for any inconvenience and look forward to seeing you next Saturday when we reopen! 🧸🧮

We are urgently looking for members to join our committee.

To keep the library running, we need volunteers to help manage memberships, finances, administration, and funding applications. This work is all done voluntarily by committee members. While it’s not a huge amount of work, it adds up when there are only a few people to do it all.

We are currently looking for help with the following roles:

Membership

Approving online sign-ups and renewals in MiBase
Resigning members when needed
Responding to membership enquiries from members

Secretary

Record keeping
Taking minutes at meetings
Assisting with grant applications and completing accountability reporting

If the work is shared, then it’s manageable around the other commitments we all have — and we can keep this wonderful community resource running for local families.

Committee members do not pay membership fees after their first 6 months on the committee and are exempt from doing rostered duties. Grandparents or friends interested in volunteering are also welcome to join the committee (and can borrow toys for their grandchildren / families as members).

🛠️ Community House Upgrades are happening soon! 🛠️

Exciting improvements are coming to the hall, with the floors and windows being replaced as part of important health and safety upgrades for the community space.

Because of this, we’ll need to temporarily move all of our toys out of the hall and into storage.

Here’s how our wonderful toy library community can help:

📦 Helpers needed – Saturday 23 May
We’ll be moving toys out of the hall and would love some extra hands! If you’re available, you can simply show up on the day — every bit of help makes a huge difference.

🧸 Borrow double toys!
Over the session, members are welcome to borrow DOUBLE the usual number of toys and keep them until June. This will help reduce the number of toys we need to move and store during the upgrades.

🚪 Closed Saturday 30 May
Please note the Devonport Toy Library will be CLOSED on Friday 30 May while the work is taking place.

📦 Saturday 6 June
We’ll then be moving all the toys back into the cupboards and getting everything ready to reopen.

A huge thank you to the New Zealand Lottery Grants Board for their generous support of Devonport Toy Library 💛

Thanks to this funding, we’ve been able to add two fantastic new items to our collection for local whānau to enjoy:

✨ The Yoto Mini Player – a screen-free audio player designed just for kids. It lets tamariki explore stories, music, podcasts and learning content independently, encouraging imagination and a love of listening without the need for screens.

✨ The Fisher-Price Kick & Play Gym – a colourful, interactive play mat perfect for babies, featuring music, lights and sensory toys that support early development, movement and play.

We’re so grateful for the opportunity to keep expanding our toy library with high-quality, engaging resources for our community. Thank you for helping us bring more play, learning and joy to Devonport families! 🙌

🐥 Cheep cheep! We’re open tomorrow!

We’ve got an adorable Easter Chick costume available — perfect for little ones getting into the Easter spirit! 🌼

Devonport Toy Library is reopening Saturday 17th January!

Come in for a play and check out our huge range of exciting toys to keep little ones entertained. We’re always welcoming new members, so if you’ve been thinking of joining, now’s the perfect time!
