Environmental spotlight 🔎
Here's a look at some of the environmental mahi / work happening across South Auckland we captured in May, including our very own Kingsford Primary School (red uniform) representing the Māngere-Ōtāhuhu Local Board area, especially the bloopers at the end ❤

Want to see what environmental action looks like through the eyes of our tamariki / children and rangatahi / youth? Check out how four South Auckland schools are making a difference through the Pest Free South Auckland Moth Plant Competition 2026 ⚡️

These students aren't just learning about biodiversity - they're getting stuck in and making a real impact 🍃 We're proud to be one of four local boards supporting this kaupapa and helping young people turn learning into action.

A huge thank you to the schools featured in this video including Kingsford Primary School, and to every school, group, team and individual helping make this kaupapa a success ✨

Skateparks should work for everyone, whether you skate, scoot, ride BMX, roller skate or use mobility wheels.

Auckland Council is planning the future of skateparks and skate spaces across Tāmaki Makaurau, and we want to hear from the people who use them most https://tinyurl.com/2vpppck4

Tell us what’s working, what’s missing, and what would make your local skatepark better.

Have your say before Monday 1 June 2026.

Some of the best mahi in our community comes out of our libraries and community centres👍 Thank you to the passionate team from Māngere East Library ✨

Last Thursday night, our young people showed up and showed out for Musika Malie — a Youth Week celebration full of talent, confidence and community spirit.

The Māngere-Ōtāhuhu Local Board is proud to support opportunities that give rangatahi / youth a platform to connect, step outside their comfort zones and share their creativity.

A huge thank you to everyone involved in making the night happen 🤩
