Yesterday CLM PAL'S day event was held at the Manurewa Netball Centre. A group of our student leaders went along for the day. They gained confidence and learnt how to deliver sports activities to students from different schools. We're hoping to use some of the advice given to us by CLM instructors and incorporate it at our kura.

Students learnt how to speak and follow a plan when delivering instructions and game rules to students. It was awesome to see our students being able to lead an organised game and ref it by themselves.

Thank you CLM for this fantastic opportunity for our students to continue to develop their leadership skills 🙌🏼

Today we want to do a special shout out to our Samoan Bilingual Class - Fatu o le Alofa i Ōtāhuhu for their AMAZING attendance!

So far this term this class of awesome students has 98% attendance! That is over nine weeks of cold, wet weather and through sickness. This is truly AMAZING!

We don’t hear about our school and the awesome mahi we are doing with our students on the tv, radio or the news. If I could I would hire a plane with a big sign behind it saying “Come and see the amazing things happening at OIS!”

We just continue to work hard for each other and hard for our students. And we will continue to do this as we strive for EXCELLENCE FOR ALL.

Room 10, Fatu o le Alofa, your attendance is out of this world! We are so proud of you all 👏🏼

This afternoon Room 11 students visited The Willow Home and Hospital as part of their service. The students presented residents with heartfelt Mother’s Day and Father’s Day cards, shared words of encouragement and appreciation, and gave small gifts. The visit brought many smiles, warmth, and meaningful connections, making it a memorable and rewarding experience for both the students and residents.

What an awesome way for our students to display our school values! What a truly beautiful service Room 11 ❤️

Today Room 3 students visited Creative Garden Early Learning Centre as part of their service-learning programme. The students spent time helping to clean the gardens, outdoor furniture and toys, creating a tidy and welcoming environment for the preschool children. They also enjoyed reading big books to the preschoolers, sharing stories and building positive connections.

This experience provided an opportunity for students to give back to their community through meaningful service, demonstrating our school values RESPECT, PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY and PASSION whilst doing it! Tu meke Room 3 🙌🏼

Another awesome and productive day in Rangahau Taiao. Room 13 put in 2 hours of hard mahi and finished the rock border as well as half of the shell path boxed and filled. These are great life-skills which our students are learning including getting handy with tools. ⚒️ 🧰 🌱 🪨

A little update from Rangahau Taiao. We are proud to share that rooms 7, 11, 12, 17 & 19 have moved in 5 days 10 cubic metres of soil into our cultural garden space. Today the rocks for the boarder were moved also.

The Rangatahi leadership group this afternoon measured the pathway, specifically created for wheelchair access, levelled the soil and started to place the rocks.

Keep up with our updates and look forward to being part of the planting after Matariki.

These cultural gardens are for our community as well as a learning space for our students! We are very proud to continue to showcase the importance of taiao to our students and support them make great choices that will support future generations 🙌🏼

Yesterday we had our Term 2 Syndicate Spirit Day. It was fantastic to see so many of our students come to school in their syndicate colours and show our school value of PASSION!

Our students get to work collaboratively with each other, develop communication skills, problem solve and at the same time have a whole lot of fun!

Thank you to our teachers for the awesome activities and to Mr Buys for leading the day!

Check out our awesome students 🙌🏼

As we close the chapter on an incredible Samoan Language Week (Vaiaso o le Gagana Sāmoa), our hearts are absolutely full. This year’s beautiful theme, "E afua mai i mauga tetele manuia o le nu'u" (From the high mountains are the blessings of the village), reminds us of the deep wisdom of ancestors, divine protection, and the cultural foundations that sustain us all.

It has been an absolute pleasure to witness this theme brought to life through a vibrant celebration of culture in action—embraced wholeheartedly by not only our students but our staff as well. From the proud moments of our opening flag-raising ceremony on Tuesday morning, the energy didn't stop!

The absolute highlights of the week came on Friday, where we shared a beautiful Samoan feast together. We were also treated to performances from our students and staff! The energy was unmatched, and our staff looked spectacular, proudly dressed in brand-new traditional Samoan attire. Beautiful puletasi for the women and striking ie faitaga for the men.

A massive fa’afetai lava to everyone who contributed, performed, cooked, and participated to make this week so successful. Truly a beautiful display of our school values and community pride in action!

"E vave taunu'u pe a tatou ala va'a fa'atasi" - Our destiny is in sight if we paddle the canoe together.
