On behalf of the Honorary Consulate of Nepal to New Zealand, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Sulav Paudel on his appointment as one of the Multicultural Advisors to the Christchurch City Council.

This is a proud and historic milestone, as Dr. Paudel is understood to be the first person of Nepali origin to be appointed to this prestigious role. His appointment is not only a personal achievement, but also a moment of great pride for the Nepalese community in Christchurch and across Aotearoa New Zealand.

The Nepalese community continues to make meaningful contributions through civic participation, cultural initiatives, professional excellence, and community-led programmes. Dr. Paudel’s appointment reflects this growing engagement and the positive role our community plays in strengthening New Zealand’s multicultural society.

As a Multicultural Advisor, Dr. Paudel will contribute to Christchurch City Council by supporting stronger two-way engagement with diverse communities and advising on inclusive policies that reflect the lived experiences, needs, and aspirations of Christchurch’s multicultural population.

Dr. Paudel’s commitment to community leadership is well recognised. He recently completed his tenure as Funding Coordinator of the NNZFSC Executive Committee, where his strategic vision and disciplined stewardship supported the growth of community initiatives and programme delivery.

We are confident that Dr. Paudel will bring wisdom, dedication, and a strong community voice to this important role. We wish him every success in his new appointment and look forward to seeing his continued contribution to the wider multicultural community of Christchurch and New Zealand.
