The Drummond and Cassie Families would like to express their sincere gratitude to all who attended Colin’s funeral and/or extended messages of support and condolences. The numbers that attended the funeral in Colins paradise at Erewhon Station were truly humbling.
We live in an amazing community. The phone calls, texts, emails, letters, cards, flowers, food and farm help, all have meant so much to Erin, enduring the shock of losing Colin so quickly to such an aggressive cancer.
Thank you to the doctors and especially the nurses of Ward I at the Ashburton Hospital who cared for Colin so well during his last few days.
Thank you also to both Jo Metcalf of “Memory Funerals” and Phil Hooper for facilitating such a fitting final farewell for Colin. For a terrible day this occasion was 10 out of 10 for ex*****on and a celebration of a life well lived.
We take strength into each day with Colins mantra “Its better to burn out than rust out as life’s no dress rehearsal”.
Please accept this as a personal thank you to you all.
Colin has been farewelled - but he is forever in the mountains giving courage to those keeping his legacy alive

The heart of Erewhon my wonderful husband Colin James Drummond passed away 11th Dec 2024 after a brief but brutal illness. Massive shock & not sure how we proceed without this one in a million mountain of a man beside me. But I know how lucky I have been to "do" life with a soul mate who completed me. Its been a wild ride but I take comfort that his "better to burn out than rust out" mantra ensured his life was certainly no dress rehearsal. We will celebrate this well lived life 1pm Tuesday 17th December at his home in paradise and where I still feel his presence Erewhon Station Horse Stud . Thank you for all the messages of support, they are so appreciated in these toughest of times.
