It is with great regret, the Ashburton Senior Centre Trust have sadly accepted the resignation of Trustee Trevor Wall. While Trevor has been on the Ashburton Senior Centre Trust for just over two years, his professional expertise as a Builder, attention to detail and big picture thinking were valuable and greatly appreciated qualities around the table. The Ashburton Senior Centre Trust would happily welcome Trevor back to the Trust should circumstances change. However, as of today we wish Trevor, his wife Nicola and family all the very best for a new chapter in their lives.

Since the Ashburton Seniors Centre opened, one of the most regular venue hirers have been the Ashburton Electronic Organ and Keyboard Club. They meet on the third Monday of every month - giving those who play an opportunity to perform and those who appreciate, the occasion to enjoy performers talents. The most recent Club Night was Monday 18/4/22, doors opened at 7.00pm, with Don Hopwood "playing in" members and guests - then the main programme kicked off at 7.30pm. This months programme was prepared and hosted by Iris Taylor Newcomers are always welcome - Club President Bev Stevens tells me "You don't need to play an instrument - you can be there just to appreciate those who can" . If you have any questions please contact Club President Bev Stevens 308-9853.

March 16th 2022 marked 21 years since the Ashburton Seniors Centre officially opened. We wish to thank all who have hired, visited, fundraised for, worked on, or promoted this facility. It is a significant milestone and we wish in particular to acknowledge the founding organisations - Age Concern, Grey Power Ashburton Inc., Ashburton Hearing Association and Ashburton Senior Citizens Inc. Without their vision, contribution, ongoing support and commitment to the venue, by these groups, their members and their initiatives the Ashburton Seniors Centre would not be here today. So wherever you are reading this – please raise your glass (cup or mug) to toast to 21 Years and here’s hoping for many more.

On Saturday 12-March-22, The Ashburton Seniors Centre Trust Chairman, Barry Vessey (pictured), ably assisted by his fellow Ashburton Lions Club members - Ray Swann, Roger Paterson and Peter Kennard - had a very productive morning - reinstating the front garden, after the Rockcote was refreshed. They turned the soil, added new mulch, repaired irrigation system and planted star jasmine. Thank you one and all - as the plants mature, this area will look (and smell) lovely.
