Bajra Samaj Nepal, with the generous support from Friends of Nepal Pariwar Foundation USA, successfully organized two women's reproductive health camps in Doramba Shailung Rural Municipality. These camps were held at Dadhuwa Health Post (Ward No. 1) and Tokarpur Health Post (Ward No. 3), in collaboration with the local municipality. The main focus was on cervical cancer screening, uterine prolapse treatment, and pregnancy-related ultrasound examinations, under the initiative officially named the "Women Health Program with Vice-Chairperson."
A total of 323 women attended these camps, with 96 receiving treatment at Dadhuwa and 227 at Tokarpur. Among them, 217 underwent cervical cancer screenings (VIA Test), facilitating early detection and intervention. Medical interventions included Cryotherapy for 7 women who tested positive in the VIA Test, addressing precancerous cervical cells to mitigate cancer risk. Additionally, 14 women diagnosed with early-stage uterine prolapse were provided with ring pessaries, while 5 women with severe third-degree prolapse were referred to specialized hospitals for advanced care. Ultrasound services were provided to 198 women, aiding in pregnancy monitoring and early diagnosis of reproductive health issues.
These camps significantly contributed to delivering essential healthcare to women in rural areas, addressing critical concerns like cervical cancer, uterine prolapse, and pregnancy-related health issues. This initiative not only ensured timely medical interventions but also empowered women with essential knowledge and access to healthcare.
The collaboration between Bajra Samaj Nepal, Friends of Nepal Pariwar Foundation USA, and Doramba Shailung Rural Municipality underscores the importance of community-driven healthcare programs, highlighting the need for similar initiatives to expand reproductive health services and improve accessibility for women in underserved regions.
