We are proud to announce a new partnership between Switzerland, the PATA Nepal Chapter and the Kathmandu University School of Management (KUSOM). Together, we have signed an agreement to develop a comprehensive Tourism Crisis Management Handbook tailored for Nepali tourism stakeholders.

This initiative builds on Switzerland’s long-standing commitment to strengthening Nepal’s tourism sector. By equipping local destinations with the tools they need to navigate emergencies, we are working to ensure a resilient future that protects both visitors and local communities for the long term. 🏔️🤝

Yesterday, Ambassador Danielle Meuwly attended the panel “Alpine Alliances: New Wave of Nepali Cinema” at the 23rd Kathmandu International Mountain Film Festival (KIMFF).

The discussion featured director Abinash Bikram Shah (Elephants in the Fog), director Min Bahadur Bham (Shambhala), and producer Ram Krishna Pokharel. They shared insights on navigating global cinema through Swiss partnerships and festivals such as Locarno Film Festival, and offered valuable advice to emerging Nepali filmmakers on collaboration, networking, and financing.

It was a pleasure to attend such an inspiring discussion and witness the vibrancy of Nepali cinema! 🎬✨

As part of the celebration of 70 years of diplomatic relations between Switzerland and Nepal, the Embassy proudly launched the Trail Bridge Book in the presence of former Finance Minister Rameshore Prasad Khanal and Ambassador Markus Leitner, Head of the Asia and Pacific Division at the FDFA.
For over seven decades, Switzerland has been a trusted partner in Nepal’s trail bridge sector—helping build thousands of bridges that connect remote communities, improve access to essential services, and create new opportunities. More than infrastructure, these bridges symbolize connection, resilience, and shared progress.
The launch brought together guests from government, civil society, and the international community, offering a moment to reflect on this impactful partnership and look ahead to continued collaboration.

Today we celebrated the platinum jubilee of the first ascent of Lhotse with the opening of the “Lhotse Exhibition” together with the Nepal Mountaineering Association, showcasing stunning photographs from the Swiss Himalayan Expedition 70 years ago. The summiting of Lhotse symbolically stands at the beginning of the 70 years of Switzerland – Nepal bilateral relationships, which we are also celebrating this year.

The Lhotse Exhibition will be continued from
📅22 – 29 of May
📍at Nepal Tourism Board during opening hours.
Come and discover an exciting piece of shared history!

We kindly thank ALPS - Alpines Museum der Schweiz and the Swiss Foundation for Alpine Research for making this exhibition possible.

A beautiful celebration of cultural exchange! 🇨🇭🤝🇳🇵

Yesterday’s " Michel Runtz: A Contemporary Showcase" at Alliance Française Kathmandu was a stunning culmination of a two-week intensive residency. We are incredibly proud of the talented Kathmandu Jazz Conservatory students who beautifully performed original compositions by the Swiss maestro.

A heartfelt thank you to Michel Runtz, KJC, and AFK for making this wonderful partnership possible and to everyone who joined us! ✨🎹
