“As girls, we’re always told by society that we should be patient, be tolerant. But that should not be to the point of losing ourselves.”
Meet Rachana. Raised in a supportive family of five, she grew up with values rooted in kindness and doing what is right. She is gentle, yet firm; compassionate, yet unafraid to speak up.
Now 17, her days begin early, helping her family deliver milk. Having recently completed a diploma in Computer Studies, Rachana not only uses her time training to be a barista, she is also a Rupantaran facilitator in her community. As such, she helps young girls like herself understand the harms of child marriage and map out better futures for themselves.

Rupantaran is an initiative under the UNFPA-UNICEF Global Programme to End Child Marriage, generously funded by the Governments of Canada, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, the United Kingdom, and Zonta International.
