HISTORY
BIOCOS NEPAL, a form of eco-group, founded in December 2002, is the union of young conservationists and environmentalists who are inspired by biodiversity conservation and ecological sustenance. Eco-group started conducting research and awareness programs on biodiversity especially on birds, plants, mammals and their habitats. This spirit came out when eco- members became involved in resea

rch and conservation activities supported by World Pheasant Association, Oriental Bird Club, Club 300 Foundation and WWF for research and conservation education program from the start of our conservation endeavors. We eco-group members felt the need of an organization which not only focuses on single species project work but instead has a vision to explore research and conservation of single species and biodiversity as a whole. In 2007, we transformed this eco-group into a non-governmental authorized organization i.e. Biodiversity Conservation Society Nepal (BIOCOSNEPAL) for the conservation of the flora and fauna of Nepal.

The Munal Volleyball Cup is set to commence in 2026. As part of the preparations, a warm-up and orientation program was organized in Tuse, Ghachok, Kaski with great enthusiasm and community spirit under the theme “Let's Unite for Conservation” — dedicated to the conservation of our beautiful pheasant species and the biodiversity of Pipar Pheasant Landscape (PPCL). 🐦💚
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Machhapuchhre Rural Municipality, Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP), Great Machhapuchhre Trail (GMT), World Pheasant Association (WPA) and all the locals for their incredible support and participation. 🙏
Together, we celebrate sportsmanship, community unity, and our shared commitment to protecting nature and wildlife. 🌱✨
Let’s continue to play for conservation, act for biodiversity, and unite for a sustainable future! 🌍

During our SMART patrols, we identified several traps set for ungulates, which pose a threat to the wildlife.
These traps are not only cruel but also illegal, and they can have devastating effects on the local ungulate populations, including endangered species like the Himalayan tahr, the Himalayan Serow, and the musk deer. Our team is working diligently to remove these traps and ensure the safety of the animals in their natural habitat.

At BIOCOS NEPAL, we believe every creature has a role in nature-especially frogs! These incredible amphibians help maintain ecological balance, control insect populations, and serve as key indicators of a healthy environment. Yet, they face growing threats from habitat destruction, pollution, and climate change.
This Frog Day, let’s take a leap toward conservation! 🌱💚 Protect wetlands, reduce plastic waste, and raise awareness about these vital species. Together, we can ensure a future where frogs continue to thrive.

Snow leopards play a vital role in maintaining biodiversity in their ecosystem. They assist in regulating populations of species that are lower down on the food chain and are important as an indicator of the state of health of their environment. They are flagship species that can help to motivate the public to support the conservation of ecosystems at high altitudes.
