PCRC-Red Panda Conservation & Research Center Red pandas are unique, important and endangered. They are only species of their kind and are ambassadors for a landscape. Habitat Loss is the #1 Threat.

Unfortunately, there may be as few as 2,500 red pandas in the world. Rred panda is the original panda, discovered some 50 years ago They are the only species of their kind and are ambassadors for a landscape that supports over 500 million people: nearly 10% of the global human population. Unfortunately, there may be as few as 2,500 red pandas remaining in the wild. Unique -
The red panda is the or

iginal panda, discovered some 50 years before the giant panda! They are a carnivore that has adapted to eating almost exclusively bamboo. Red pandas are the only species remaining in their taxonomic family — a living relict of the past. Saving them is important to the preservation of the world’s natural heritage and global biodiversity. The red panda is an elusive and mysterious mammal of the biodiverse Himalayan forests. They have also been called the "fire fox", “lesser panda”, and “red-cat-bear”— the red panda has many nicknames. We prefer "first panda" and "original panda" as western scientists described it 50 years before the giant panda, and gave pandas their name. Importance-
Red pandas play a critical role in the conservation of the Eastern Himalayan broadleaf forest. The red panda is a charismatic species, and as such, plays an ambassador role to help tell the world about how important it is to protect this region. Endangered
It is estimated that there are less than 10,000 and as few as 2,500 red pandas remaining in the world. Learn why ? -
Red panda Threats-
The global red panda population has declined by 50% in 20 years and there may be as few as 2,500 remaining in the wild. Rapid human population growth in the Eastern Himalayas is causing deforestation and the degradation and fragmentation of red panda habitat. In Nepal, 70 percent of red panda habitat in lies outside of protected areas and is fragmented into 400 small forest patches. Habitat is being fragmented by development projects including roads, hydro-projects, electric transmission lines, and mining, as well as settlement and agricultural conversions, and anthropogenic forest fires. Founded by Brian Williams in 2007…
Red Panda Network has become a world leader in efforts to protect red pandas and their habitat. We use an integrated, landscape-level approach to conservation that is built on the support and participation of local communities. Our conservation programs extend to over one million acres of forest and 50% of Nepal’s red panda range! PCRC - Red Panda Conservation & Research Center is the Conservation Project of SAF & Ecohomestay Nepal collaborating with all stakeholders & partnering with impactful Partners Such as Red Panda Network ,Community Forest Groups ,Agro-Forestry Students & Researchers, Conservationists from worldwide .
