Nepal has diverse eco system with wide range of wildlife. The climatic conditions ranging from tropical southern planes to the Himalayas at the top of the world makes it a paradise for nature and wildlife lovers. However it had gone through massive deforestation, hunting and poaching in the past bringing some of the wildlife species to extinction. Many others like Royal Bengal Tiger, Asian single horned Rhinos, Snow Leopard are in the verge of extension. Nepal government is trying to preserve these last vestiges of wildlife by forming national parks and conservation areas. With the technical advancement make conservation more precise and efficient but is also costlier, especially for country like Nepal. Historically the jungle and wildlife went through massive destruction the British Government in India. The game hunting became more lethal with advanced weapons and the development projects like expansion of Indian railway caused huge deforestation for railway sleepers. The historical evidences shows that European and American models using animal skins made the poaching worse until it was banned in 1950.

In such Nepal formed first national park in 1973. Wildlife based tourism plays important role in conservation at present. The sustainable tourism practice support local economy discouraging poaching and hunting. Electric fencing have been done to protect human - animal tension. Tourism creates employments and also consumes local products making the conservation the most successful in South Asia. Recently issue of elephant tourism and mass tourism have effected the conservation. The elephant treatment in Nepal is relatively better and elephants are the most effective means of patrolling the jungle.
