The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nepal organised an Interaction Programme with International Correspondents in Nepal today in the presence of Hon. Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr Shisir Khanal.

The Foreign Secretary, senior officials of the Ministry, senior journalists and correspondents of international media were present.

Hon. Foreign Minister Mr Shisir Khanal addressed the Closing Ceremony of the MoFA Summer Fellowship & Internship Programme 2026 today, hosted by the Institute of Foreign Affairs.

The Hon. Foreign Minister emphasised the important role of evidence-based research, youth engagement and informed public discourse in shaping Nepal’s foreign policy and diplomatic practice.

During the 8-week programme, 10 Fellows and 10 Interns presented policy research and recommendations across 5 key strategic thematic areas to support national policy formulation.

Hon. Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr Shisir Khanal delivered Keynote Address at the International Conference on "China and South Asia in a Multipolar World," jointly organised by the Nepal Institute for International Cooperation and Engagement (NIICE) and the Centre for South Asian Studies of Fudan University today.

Highlighting the Government's focus on economic diplomacy and cross-border connectivity, the Hon. Minister underscored Nepal’s vision to become a vibrant bridge between China and South Asia to foster regional cooperation, sustainable development and shared prosperity.

Minister for Foreign Affairs Hon. Mr Shisir Khanal today officially launched the Nepal e-Attestation System (NEATS), developed by the Department of Consular Services.

Addressing the launching ceremony, the Hon. Minister underscored the importance of digitalising consular services and expressed confidence that NEATS would make services easier, more accessible, transparent and predictable, while modernising service delivery in line with international best practices.

Following the implementation of NEATS from 1 Bhadra 2083 (17 August 2026), applicants will be able to apply for consular attestation online, track their application status, make payments and book an appointment before visiting the Department. The system is expected to minimise processing delays and make the service more efficient, transparent and service-friendly.
