HE Robert Zischg, Ambassador of Austria, as a part of 22 EU member states ambassadors’ delegation to Nepal met with the Prime Minister of Nepal Rt. Hon’ble Balendra Shah, Foreign Affairs Minster Hon’ble Sishir Khanal and other ministers . The 2 days program was organized by European Union in Nepal. The ambassador also took time to visit the Honorary consulate of Austria in Kathmandu.

The Austrian Ambassador HE Robert Zischg visited the Manakamana Cable Car. It’s the first cable car in Nepal and entry to the Nepali market for the famous Austrian company Doppelmayr. Official operation of cable car was done in November 1998. The ambassador also visited Manakamana region with a night overstay at Manakamana Hillcrest Resorts, the first premier resort of the region. Both cable car and resorts is under the same group Chitawoncoe Group. The ambassador was accompanied by Honorary Consul of Austria in Nepal Rajesh Babu Shrestha who is also the director of the group.

The Austrian Ambassador Designate, Robert Zischg, presented today the Letter of Credentials to the Rt. Honorable President of Nepal, Ram Chandra Poudel amidst a formal ceremony at the Rastrapati Bhawan. The Honorary Consul of Austria in Nepal Rajesh Babu Shrestha accompanied the Ambassador in the function. The Honorary Consulate congratulates the Ambassador and wish him a successful tenure for taking the bilateral relation between Nepal and Austria to more greater heights.

Commemorating International Women’s Day, the acclaimed Austrian film MEHRUNISA, produced and directed by Austrian filmmaker Sandeep Kumar, was screened in Kathmandu by the Austrian Embassy and Austrian Cultural Forum, New Delhi, in coordination with the Honorary Consulate of Austria in Nepal.

The screening, held at QFX Cinema, Chhaya Centre, was attended by 150 viewers and received an overwhelmingly positive response. The event was organized in collaboration with the Federation of Women Entrepreneurs’ Associations of Nepal (FWEAN), celebrating culture, storytelling, and women’s voices.

To mark International Women’s Day on 8 March, the Austrian Cultural Forum and the Austrian Embassy New Delhi, in collaboration with six Austrian Honorary Consulates across India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal and Sri Lanka, present special screenings of the award-winning film Mehrunisa by Vienna-based filmmaker Sandeep Kumar.

Hosted in partnership with local women’s organizations, the screenings celebrate women’s voices, resilience and empowerment while strengthening Austrian–Indian cultural ties.

The film stars the legendary Farrukh Jaffar, who delivered her first leading performance at the age of 88, in a powerful story about reclaiming identity and challenging deeply rooted patriarchal norms.

Premiering at the International Film Festival of India, Mehrunisa has been showcased at major international festivals including Diagonale and the Indian Film Festival Stuttgart, earning global recognition and awards.
