Bangladesh Extends US$ 01 Million (NPR 152 Million) Assistance to Disaster-Hit Nepal
The Government of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has contributed US$ 01 million (12.3 crore BDT/ NPR 152 million) to the Government of Nepal Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund to support the ongoing relief, recovery, and humanitarian efforts following the sudden devastating floods and mudslide in Northern Nepal.
Today, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humaiun Kobir conveyed this to Mr. Ghanshyam Bhandari, Ambassador of Nepal to Bangladesh, while handing over a letter from Prime Minister Tarique Rahman addressed to Prime Minister of Nepal Balendra Shah.
Earlier, on 01 September 2026, the State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Humaiun Kobir, signed the Condolence Book opened at the Embassy of Nepal in Dhaka. The Bangladesh Jatiya Sangsad (National Parliament) also adopted a Condolence Motion on August 27, 2026 following the terrible tragedy in Nepal.
It may be noted that following the unprecedented flash flood on 26 August, 2026, Hon’ble Prime Minister, Tarique Rahman expressed Bangladesh’s full solidarity with the government and resilient people of Nepal while conveying profound condolences and sympathy for the flood victims in his message to Prime Minister of Nepal, Mr. Balendra Shah. Hon’ble President, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, also expressed deep sorrow and sympathy over the extensive loss of life and devastation caused by the disaster in Nepal and conveyed profound condolences to the President of Nepal.
The National Parliament, as noted, adopted a motion of condolence during a session on 27 August 2026 expressing profound grief and sympathy for the flood victims, and for those missing. A one-minute silence was observed, and prayers were offered for the departed souls. The Parliament also urged the government of Bangladesh to take urgent action on providing necessary assistance to Nepal in response to the disaster.
Furthermore, Hon’ble Foreign Minister of Bangladesh, Dr. Khalilur Rahman held a telephone conversation with his Nepali counterpart, M. Shishir Khanal, at noon on 27 August 2026. During the conversation, assuring Bangladesh’s readiness to extend all possible assistance to Nepal as required, he discussed the modalities for extending humanitarian support.
Bangladesh’s initiatives to stand by the people of Nepal in this critical calamity are expected to further strengthen the longstanding friendship, goodwill, and close relations between the friendly peoples of the two countries.
নেপালকে ১০ লাখ মার্কিন ডলার (১৫ কোটি ২০ লাখ নেপালি রুপি) সহায়তা দিচ্ছে বাংলাদেশ
নেপালে আকস্মিক ও ভয়াবহ বন্যা এবং ভূমিধসের পর চলমান ত্রাণ, পুনরুদ্ধার ও মানবিক কার্যক্রমে সহায়তার জন্য মাননীয় প্রধানমন্ত্রী তারেক রহমানের নেতৃত্বাধীন বাংলাদেশ সরকার নেপাল সরকারের প্রধানমন্ত্রীর দুর্যোগ ত্রাণ তহবিলে ১০ লাখ মার্কিন ডলার (১২.৩ কোটি বাংলাদেশি টাকা/১৫ কোটি ২০ লাখ নেপালি রুপি) প্রদান করেছে।
আজ মাননীয় পররাষ্ট্র প্রতিমন্ত্রী হুমায়ুন কবির ঢাকায় নিযুক্ত নেপালের রাষ্ট্রদূত ঘনশ্যাম ভাণ্ডারির কাছে নেপালের মাননীয় প্রধানমন্ত্রী বালেন্দ্র শাহকে মাননীয় প্রধানমন্ত্রী তারেক রহমানের লেখা পত্র হস্তান্তরের সময় এ তথ্য জানান।
ইতোপূর্বে, ০১ সেপ্টেম্বর ২০২৬ তারিখে মাননীয় পররাষ্ট্র প্রতিমন্ত্রী হুমায়ুন কবির ঢাকাস্থ নেপাল দূতাবাসে খোলা শোকবইয়ে স্বাক্ষর করেন। এছাড়া, নেপালে সংঘটিত ভয়াবহ বিপর্যয়ের পর বাংলাদেশ জাতীয় সংসদ ২৭ আগস্ট ২০২৬ তারিখে একটি শোক প্রস্তাব গ্রহণ করে।
উল্লেখ্য, ২৬ আগস্ট ২০২৬ তারিখে নজিরবিহীন আকস্মিক বন্যার পর মাননীয় প্রধানমন্ত্রী তারেক রহমান নেপালের মাননীয় প্রধানমন্ত্রী বালেন্দ্র শাহকে উদ্দেশ্যে বার্তায় বাংলাদেশের জনগণ ও সরকারের পক্ষ থেকে নেপালের সরকার এবং দুর্যোগ মোকাবিলায় দৃঢ়প্রতিজ্ঞ জনগণের প্রতি পূর্ণ সংহতি প্রকাশ করেন। একইসঙ্গে তিনি বন্যায় ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত ও নিহতদের প্রতি গভীর শোক ও সমবেদনা জানান। বাংলাদেশের মহামান্য রাষ্ট্রপতি মির্জা ফখরুল ইসলাম আলমগীরও নেপালে এই দুর্যোগের ফলে ব্যাপক প্রাণহানি ও ধ্বংসযজ্ঞে গভীর শোক ও সহানুভূতি প্রকাশ করেন এবং নেপালের রাষ্ট্রপতির প্রতি গভীর সমবেদনা জানান।
এছাড়া, জাতীয় সংসদ ২৭ আগস্ট ২০২৬ তারিখে অনুষ্ঠিত অধিবেশনে বন্যায় নিহত এবং নিখোঁজ ব্যক্তিদের প্রতি গভীর শোক ও সমবেদনা জানিয়ে একটি শোক প্রস্তাব গ্রহণ করে। এ সময় এক মিনিট নীরবতা পালন করা হয় এবং নিহতদের আত্মার শান্তির জন্য দোয়া করা হয়। দুর্যোগের পরিপ্রেক্ষিতে নেপালকে প্রয়োজনীয় সহায়তা প্রদানে জরুরি পদক্ষেপ নেওয়ার জন্য সংসদ বাংলাদেশ সরকারকেও আহ্বান জানায়।
এছাড়া, বাংলাদেশের মাননীয় পররাষ্ট্রমন্ত্রী ড. খলিলুর রহমান ২৭ আগস্ট ২০২৬ তারিখ দুপুরে নেপালের মাননীয় পররাষ্ট্রমন্ত্রী শিশির খানালের সঙ্গে টেলিফোনে কথা বলেন। এ সময় তিনি প্রয়োজন অনুযায়ী নেপালকে সম্ভাব্য সব ধরনের সহায়তা প্রদানে বাংলাদেশের প্রস্তুতির কথা জানান এবং নেপালের কিরূপে মানবিক সহায়তা প্রয়োজন তা নিয়ে আলোচনা করেন।
এই সংকটময় দুর্যোগে নেপালের জনগণের পাশে দাঁড়াতে বাংলাদেশের গৃহীত উদ্যোগ দুই দেশের জনগণের মধ্যকার দীর্ঘদিনের বন্ধুত্ব, পারস্পরিক সদিচ্ছা এবং ঘনিষ্ঠ সম্পর্কেরই প্রতিফলন।
