The walk to Vajrayogini Temple, Sankhu. Sankhu is a small village in the east of the Kathmandu Valley, in Nepal. It is a sacred site of
Buddhism associated with Vajrayogini, as well as an important Hindu shrine. It is considered one of the oldest of the Kathmandu Valley and records go back as far as the 5th century AD. Vajrayogini is an important ta***ic meditation deity of Tibetan and Newari Buddhism. But she is also on of the forms of Durga for nepali Hindu.

On top of a jewel lotus blessed by the Buddha Vipaswi, the Jina Vajradhara spontaneously arose from the Pure Land of Akanistha as a great sacred Tree of Life (a Bodhi Tree or stupa) called Jnana Gandola (The Self-Sprung Temple of Wisdom) which brings spiritual release by sight of it, hearing of it, reflecting upon it, or touching it.

Precious symbols of the Minds of the Buddhas

With an all-embracing relationship with these three
supreme symbols,
All adversity, troubles and obstacles are removed,
All our wishes are actually fulfilled,
And ultimately we cross the ocean of with

Power places are the destination of pilgrims, and the sacred ambiance of the place, its noumenal energy and the pilgrim's relationship to it, is sufficient to fulfill the pilgrim wishes. 'Power place' translates the Tibetan word né, or nechen, which can also be rendered 'sacred' or 'holy place'. The most momentous power places are the great sacred mountains and the lakes in their proximity, and cover, therefore, large areas, sometimes hundreds of square miles. Within these areas the loci of power are the caves, particular peaks and rocks, springs and confluences, sky-burial sites, any of which, in any location may be power places.
