Meet Shay, an Environment Volunteer living and working in Lamjung!

She teaches environmental stewardship to students in grades 5-8 and supports solid waste management efforts in her community.

From planting rice and herding goats alongside community members to celebrating Dashain and Tihar with her host family, Shay has made meaningful connections and built lasting relationships that will continue long after her service ends.

She says, "Having the chance to share some of [my community's] favorite traditions, holiday memories, and foods has given me some of my favorite memories."

Intercultural exchange is at the heart of the Peace Corps' mission. Here, we see that in action through the close relationship between PCV Elle and their host Aama.

At their Mid-Service Conference, the two shared elements of Gurung/Ghale culture, including how to wear traditional clothing. What a beautiful moment of mutual respect and understanding!

As part of Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month activities, Peace Corps/Nepal staff wore jeans on Denim Day in solidarity with victims and survivors of sexual violence. Today is a powerful reminder for all communities to stand together, speak up, and take action to create spaces where safety and dignity are respected.
