The benevolent social reformer inspired by the value and importance of non-violence, self-reliance and truth of Gandhian philosophy. From the very beginning to date this Mahaguthi has been working to protect and uplift untou
chables, helpless, neglected and distress people in general and destitute women in particular. The organization has empowered and strengthened the poor, marginalize and disadvantage women all over the country especially remote areas through the vocational and skill development training. More than twenty thousand women and children till date have been benefitted and many are self-employed. The situation, status, and right of men and women have vast divergent differences in our society. Various social customs, culture, environment and religion disparity in the categories of high and low status of people have made difference between the “Have” and “Have not”. Mainly the poor, marginalized group, untouchable and distress women of the society are facing many socio-economic challenges in their lives. Due to poverty, illiteracy, unemployment and dependant different forms of violence have been seen in back ward people, especially women in the villages. Mahaguthi is continuously focusing on such types of deprived women for the self-reliance and self-dependency. A step to assist such situation, the organization has been lunching the yarning threads, khadi weaving, candle making, potato cheeps making, agriculture farming and many other vocational trainings. Most of the Nepalese women living in remote areas are unskilled and semi-skilled. So the organization believes vocational trainings are most useful tools to help rural poor, neglected marginalized and single women. However, in the present scenario, the organization needs to extend and modernize the programs in more effective way as per the changing social scenario. Presently, the Mahaguthi provide shelter to nearly 100 participants and intends to increase another 100 each year if resources can be made available. Young women from more than 22 districts are getting training now. Training in the same banner can be implemented in regional basis or in the district head quarters. Providing micro finance type of loan without collateral for immediate self employment is a concept developed by the new central working committee of Mahaguthi. In order to conduct the proposed improved programs, the organization will utilize and mobilize its own funds as well as and seek for financial support from different institutions. Even a small cooperation to organization will help the targeted distressed women for self -reliance and self- dependent and will be able to live respectful life
