, the legend that Manjushri split the Kathmandu Valley, the unique and inclusive world cultural heritage sites, and the uncompromising and kind people. The towering snow peaks witness the diverse cultures of both sides of the Himalayas and the friendly people-to-people exchanges across the mountains. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1955, China and Nepal always support and treat each other equally, and develop mutual beneficial cooperation on the basis of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence. Nowadays, China-Nepal relations are facing new prospect for development. On August 30, 2026, H.E. Mr. Zhang Maoming, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Nepal, met with Hon. Dr. Swarnim Wagle, Minister of Finance of Nepal, and handed over USD 2 million in emergency flood relief assistance provided by the Chinese Government to the Government of Nepal, along with USD 200,000 from the Red Cross Society of China to the Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund of Nepal.

Ambassador Zhang Maoming attends handover ceremony for China-aid emergency relief supplies to Nepal

At around 7 o'clock local time on August 30, 2026, two Y-20 large transport aircraft of the PLA Air Force of China carrying China-aid emergency relief supplies arrived at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, Nepal. Four Chinese tunnel rescue experts, along with rescue equipment, arrived on board.

H. E. Mr. Zhang Maoming, Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, Honourable Mr. Mahabir Pun, Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation of Nepal, Honourable Mr. Dharma KC, member of House of Representatives of Federal Parliament of Nepal, attended the handover ceremony for the relief supplies, and welcomed the Chinese rescue experts.

The two transport aircraft took off from Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport and arrived in Kathmandu after a flight of about three hours. They carried 13,200 items of emergency relief supplies, including tents, blankets, sleeping bags, hard tack and first-aid kits, with a total weight of 50 tonnes.
