Why Did Nepal Ban Cannabis? Because DC Said So.

Did you know that Nepal didn’t ban cannabis on its own? It was the U.S. government, through international pressure, that forced Nepal to make it illegal in 1973. Before that, cannabis was legally sold in government-licensed shops, and it was a part of our culture, economy, and Ayurvedic medicine.

The U.S. pushed the world into the War on Drugs, criminalizing a plant that had been used for centuries. Now, while states like California and DC themselves profit from legal cannabis, Nepal is stuck with outdated laws that only hurt farmers, patients, and the economy.

It’s time to hold DC accountable and demand that Nepal’s sovereignty over its own policies be respected. Nepal must reclaim its right to legalize cannabis—not because it’s a trend in the West, but because it was ours before they took it away.

If you agree, share this post and let’s bring awareness to this injustice. Nepal deserves cannabis reform!
