On December 17, 2024, American Corner Ilam conducted an informative session for 4th-year bachelor-level students of Mahendra Ratna Multiple Campus, Ilam. The session covered American Corner Ilam's opportunities, the U.S. Youth Council (USYC) 2024 application process, and the library management and cataloging system. Lecturer Rajendra Baral and 16 students actively participated. The event aimed to enhance awareness about AC Ilam's programs and resources, fostering educational and professional growth. The program was facilitated by Hem Prasad Poudel Program Coordinator of American Corner Ilam.

The AY 2025-26 Fulbright Teacher Excellence and Achievement Program (Fulbright TEA) is now OPEN for applications!

This prestigious program offers an incredible opportunity for secondary-level teachers (grades 7-12) to travel to the United States for a six-week professional development experience. The program includes academic seminars at a host university, along with the chance to observe and collaborate with American teachers at local secondary schools.

Eligible teachers include those who specialize in English, English as a Foreign Language (EFL), math, science, social studies, journalism, communication, or special education in these subjects, with a minimum of 5 years of teaching experience.

📚 School Outreach & Book Donation Program at Singha Devi Secondary School, Suryodaya Municipality 1.📚
On December 13, 2024, American Corner Ilam organized a School Outreach and Book Donation Program at Singha Devi Secondary School, located in a rural area on the Nepal-India border. The program aimed to promote education and a reading culture in rural communities. The event was chaired by Mr. Hemanta Gautam, General Secretary of the Ilam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and graced by Chief Guest Mr. Raj Kumar Limbu, President of Suryodaya Municipality Ward 01. Guest speaker Mr. Juddha Prasad Vaidhya, an educationist and former campus chief, emphasized the importance of education and Ilam’s educational legacy.
Over 120 students, teachers, school management committee members, and local residents actively participated. Mr. Hem Prasad Poudel, Program Coordinator of American Corner Ilam, shared the program’s objectives and highlighted opportunities for students.
The Chief Guest praised American Corner Ilam's efforts to foster a reading culture in rural areas and expressed commitment to future collaborations.

अमेरिकन कर्नर इलामले GAUN (युवाहरूकाे समूह) सँगको सहकार्यमा सूर्योदय नगरपालिका, इलामका चारवटा विद्यालय र कलेजहरूमा‘दुर्व्यसन विरूद्ध युवाहरूकाे रचनात्मक यात्रा’ कार्यक्रम आयोजना गरेको थियो । दुई दिनेकाे ककार्यक्रममा हामीले १५०० भन्दा बढी युवा विद्यार्थीहरू सम्म पुग्यौं र उनीहरूको आवाज सुन्यौं, र हाम्रो कविता, गीत र गजललाई प्रत्यक्ष संगीतको साथ प्रस्तुत गर्‍यौं।
🌟 Youth's Creative Journey Against Addiction 🌟
On December 5th and 6th, 2024, American Corner Ilam, in collaboration with GAUN (a youth group), successfully organized the "Youth's Creative Journey Against Addiction" program at four schools and colleges in Suryodaya Municipality, Ilam.
During this two-day event, we reached over 1,500 youth students and engaged them with poetry, music, and Gajal performances accompanied by live music. The program aimed to mitigate addiction among youths through creativity. A highlight of the event was the spontaneous participation of 15 talented students who showcased their creativity, making it a significant milestone.
To promote a reading culture, American Corner Ilam also donated books to the school libraries.
Together, we inspired and empowered the youth to choose creativity over addiction.

📚 Promoting Books, Library Culture, and Opportunities! 📚
On November 29, 2024, American Corner Ilam organized an outreach program at Motiram Secondary School, Rong Rural Municipality-6, Ilam. The program aimed to encourage reading habits, promote library culture and share insights about American Corner Ilam. As part of the event, books were donated to the school library in the presence of Rong Rural Municipality President Mani Kumar Syangbo and Ilam Chamber of Commerce President Chetnath Poudel. We were delighted to interact with 80 enthusiastic participants, including students and community members.
