This prestigious program offers an incredible opportunity for secondary-level teachers (grades 7-12) to travel to the United States for a six-week professional development experience. On December 8, 2024, American Corner Biratnagar proudly celebrated its 21st Anniversary with joy, laughter, and creativity! 🎂✨
We had the pleasure of hosting 40 amazing Grade 5 students and their dedicated teachers from Shree Bal Mandir, a government school. The day was filled with vibrant activities—fun games, dancing, singing, and a captivating performance by the students! 💃🎶

It was heartwarming to see the students' enthusiasm and talent light up the celebration. This milestone wouldn't have been possible without the support of our community.

On December 1, 2024, the American Corner Library organized an orientation program titled "The Role of the Community in Ending Gender-Based Violence" to mark the Gender-Based Violence and Activism Month. The program targeted women from Ward 10, Biratnagar, and featured an impactful session led by Ms. Sw****ka Pokharel, a seasoned professional associated with various NGOS in Nepal. The event aimed to empower women by raising awareness about gender-based violence, fostering community involvement in combating such issues, and providing participants with strategies to address and prevent violence. A total of 36 women attended in person, actively engaging in discussions. The session successfully enhanced participants' understanding of their roles as community members in addressing gender-based violence and encouraged them to advocate for safer and more equitable communities.

On Sunday, October 20, 2024, Mr. Prem Prasad Bhattarai, the Chief District Officer of Morang, and Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Mr. Chandra Kuber Khapung from the Koshi Province Police Office visited the American Corner Library. They were welcomed by Mr Nanda Kishor Rathi, the Senior Vice President of the Chamber of Industries Morang, who gave them a token of appreciation.

During the visit, we talked about the valuable resources available at the American Corner. We explained how students use this space for personal development and how visitors can access a variety of books and research materials.

"On September 16, 2024, we successfully organized an event featuring an insightful session led by Dr Raju Adhikari. He shared valuable strategies for managing hectic schedules and coping with the challenges of a busy lifestyle. The session was attended by 50 participants and concluded with a positive, healthy, and engaging discussion. We’re grateful for everyone who joined and contributed to making it such a meaningful experience.

Today, we celebrated Children's Day in collaboration with Province 1, bringing together over 350 participants to honor the creativity and talent of young minds! 🌟 The children mesmerized us with dance, songs, poetry, and more, showcasing their incredible abilities. 🎤🎶

Our team from American Corner was excited to share information about our ongoing activities and programs, fostering further learning and development opportunities. 📚

We wrapped up the day with a fun-filled quiz competition, and the winners took home exciting hampers!

It was truly a day of joy, talent, and celebration!"

We successfully held a one-day training on Disaster Risk Management on August 21, 2024, led by Mr. Sagar Koirala, the Regional Focal Point for the UN Major Group for Children and Youth. The session covered essential topics like hazard identification, risk assessment, vulnerability analysis, and the Sendai Framework, with a special focus on Nepal's recent disasters and the importance of early warning systems. Over 55 participants from across Koshi Province, including students, development practitioners, and disaster management professionals, attended the training.
