I was born in hills of mahabharata but as a kid my family was moved to bardiya, thakurdwara. But i recall there were not more than a dozen homes. As i grew with local people i am bound to tharus with blood and veins. Although here are so many tharus migrated from other places i consider myself connect to roots than so many local people. BNP was my playground as grew; a bare cattle grazing place. The dense forest and big old trees must have some old but fresh memories. As young and rebel i wondered various places from nepal and india but my ties were connected this place so i couldn’t resist to returned. However all those ventures came handy to my interest as nature guide. Activities:
Jungle safari
The charm of BNP lies in jungle safari. The native flora and fauna will not cease you to amaze with beautiful birds. The crossing of spotted deer and teasing of monkey will not leave you in blue. But be prepared for occasional but not rare encounters with mighty CAT. Through the serenity and tranquillity of forest you will reach the heart of BNP a.k.a. The golden triangle to see tiger , elephant and rhino. Where more than 80% sighting of wildlife occur. Tinkune (The triangle) is the last line between the humans and wildlife separated by a river. Although some chaps entertain to upset the wildlife by force entry. It is better to wait and have tea, coffee or brunch in high tower. Tiger including other wildlife are very careful animals they feel our presence before we catch a glimpse. The more we chase the more we make distance with wildlife. We can visit more areas of BNP in jeep safari however the noise and roar of machine only makes the trip merely a sight seen. Reducing the chance to enjoy tranquility and friendly with wildlife. If you have not ridden elephant before it will be new experience for a hour or two elephant safari. However i choose not to tortore animal in any form. Rafting
Karnali is the longest river of nepal. The journey starts from under the biggest mechanical bridge of nepal. The river runs through BNP. This plain water rafting is soothing and only has occasional bumps. This is a very good way to observe many parts of park without disturbing wildlife yet having more chance to observe wildlife. Bird watching
Bardiya lies in sub tropical region. Having so many rivers, lakes, native flowering and fruit plants. It is a Sangri La for bird watching. Here are many community forests, lakes so you can visit with local or without, free of charges. A prehistoric lake “ Badhaiya” , “Satkhaluwa” and “Ghodaghodi” gives rare chance to see Siberian snow crane, Pelican, Great hornbill, Spiny babbler, Red junglefowl , Bengal florican, Indian roller and so on. Cultural programme
Tharus are indigenous people of terai region they have spread over East east to west part of Nepal. Tharus who are living in Bardia are called the Dangaha and Desawar. They are distinct in culture, having unique homes, interior decoration, food and so on. you can observe different cultural dances. However Rana Tharus of the far west region have different cultures and livelihood. They are the most hospitable communities I have ever met. Farwest
The west of Nepal is the most unique and most beautiful place in Nepal however it is not Explored like the other parts of the Nepal. you can have lots and lots of information about the Annapurna and other trekking routes of Nepal but you may not have heard about the Api and numpa base camp trekking. Farwest is the hidden gem. People I met on the way and on the destination are so innocent and humble. I recall my first solo trip to Api base camp when they unconditionally helped me with food, road, gear. It was the beginning of a beautiful friendship. Suklafanta national park(SNP) , khaptad national park are other beautiful place I can accompany you. SNP is famous for swamp deer where you can see group of thousands of deer at one time in one place. Khaptad National Park is named after a sage who meditated and stayed here. There still lies his hermitage. However we are not going there for penance. It is the most beautiful landscape. The valleys, ponds and flowers which bloom in June makes this place a real piece. When we ascend above 1000 meters you will feel like travelling back in time. If you have nostalgia looking at black and white pictures of Nepal you can still feel it here except for some satellite antennas and a4 size solars on roof. You will definitely love the farwest if you want to have a peaceful time away from the crowd and concrete. They will make you feel special. About Bardiya National Park:
