That is to say, the multi-purpose Kush used in bathing, chanting, bathing, giving alms, recitation, and even in ancestor acknowledgment rituals (Pitri Karma) are considered important by the followers of the Sanatana Hindu religion. As a part of celebrations, people bring kush, holy grass, into their houses. They believe that keeping kush, cut by the priests, brings happiness and prosperity to their family.
According to scientific reason, a handful of Kush was placed between the radiations and it was found that Kush reflected all the radiations away from its surroundings. Thus the perpetual use of Kush in the Sanatan culture presents the records of ancient science and the effective practical lifestyle. From generation to generation, Hinduism encourages everyone to use the rings and other cultural uses made from this scientifically proven marvelous Kush. The use of Kush as a ring on the finger of the right hand demonstrates the belief and scientifically proven principles that annihilate the turbulent waves and radiation in the atmosphere.

Nepal is a playground for tourists with different activities village tourism, mountain climbing, trekking, jungle safaris, religious and cultural sites, rafting, bungee jumping, rock climbing, mountain biking, bird watching, paragliding, hot air ballooning, mountain flights, visiting museums, shopping indigenous products, meditation, etc. These activities are more or less related with ecotourism in the form of nature, wildlife and culture based tourism. From above mentioned trends of tourism growth in Nepal it is easy to speculate that tourism in Nepal is gradually heading towards mass tourism. Besides various benefits of tourism, tourism also has severe adverse effects such as unwanted pressure on natural resources, environmental pollution, loss of natural habitats and deterioration of natural panorama, depletion of water resources, cultural erosion, and increases use of drugs and growth of criminal activities. So it seems the right time to implement the principles of ecotourism in the growing field of tourism so that it can help to conserve natural ecosystems and promote local culture while protecting generation old cultural and religious heritages by curbing the fast growth of tourism. Ecotourism could provide maximum benefits for local communities with environmental and wildlife conservation through maximum involvement of all stakeholders of the tourism industry to aware the need of ecotourism as a responsible & sustainable tourism to promote balance development in the country.

Wetlands V/s Human Beings V/s Birds & Wildlife
Near 23 kilo metres west-north of the Nepalgunj City in Bardiya district- lies Badhaiya lake the biggest reservoir in West Nepal. The lake is home thousands resident birds and also host thousands of migratory birds every year, estimates 45,000- 50,000 birds travelled from northern Asia to Nepal every winter travelling from as far away as Siberia. But rapid degradation and deterioration of wetlands may lead to permanent extinction of several species. The impact of urbanization, habitat destruction and other developmental works on the wetlands also declining birds with some species already rare and threatened. About 21 ethnic communities directly depend on the wetlands of Nepal and fishing is one of their major occupations. It’s hard to get fish nowadays, wetlands are shrinking or disappearing and there are too many people. Still, on the one hand, communities are happy to help protect the lake and birds, but on the other hand, Birds and other animals eat their crops, which is the only source of food for many of such people, as farmer can’t afford to buy food. The Nepal government has a policy to compensate people for the damage caused by wild animals but this doesn’t include birds. People go with loudspeakers, dance, and drink and there is no regulatory body to monitor. Such kinds of activities have negative impacts on birds or degrade habitat. Wetlands are one of the most threatened ecosystems on the planet but the richest in biodiversity. We can promote bird watching groups, where people enjoy nature rather than boats and picnic parties near such places. Wetlands are also the major source of drinking water for wildlife, including rare or endangered species. Everyone understand that these are not wastelands and they have a huge role in providing food, water, medicine and many other services as well as maintain ecosystems.
“We hope that wetlands will receive more attention in future and they deserve better respect and better management.”

" Ecological importance of Birds"
Birds, also known as Aves or avian dinosaurs, are a group of endothermic vertebrates, characterised by feathers, toothless beaked jaws, the laying of hard-shelled eggs, a high metabolic rate, a four-chambered heart, and a strong yet lightweight skeleton. There are about 10000 bird species in the world. From the poles to the equatorial forests, from the deserts to the centres of the oceans, from the highest mountains to the hearts of our cities, everywhere birds are amongst the most conspicuous forms of animal life. Of all the animals, birds have been the most well-known classis because human beings have used them for feeding, communication, pollinating plants, and decorate the home, etc. Also, birds are important to some animals for biological control, for example Rodentia. Birds are important to continue ecologic circle, specially in food chain. For the last three centuries, industrial developments and anthropological effects have degraded habitats and caused the natural balance to deteriorate. Approximately 200 bird species had been affected directly or indirectly from these negative changes. Photos by - Indrajeet Pariyar
