CALL TO ACTION!!!
Do you want to be a part of an exciting sustainability project in practice? Would you like to learn how to grow food in the Arctic? Get your hands in the dirt and be a part of a growing interdisciplinary student sustainability garden group in the Arctic! You will contribute to dialogue around sustainability education, and a fast-growing community garden.
You will receive many personal, educational and professional benefits:
A 10 square meter plot for UiT students only that you get to eat from!
Being in nature will boost your mental and physical health, plus the garden has a stunning view of Kvaløya (one of the best places in Tromsø!)
Access to weekly courses and social activities: gardening and grilling, personal development, Norwegian language, Social Entrepreneurship (and more!)
A whole new community of friends, Norwegian and International, including the rest of the community garden members – this is a great way to integrate!
A certificate of completion in Sustainability Education
(FREE!)
What you will do as a participant:
(This program runs from May 15 through November 15 and is for students who plan to be in Tromsø this summer and fall.)
Join an activity once a week (vacations are exceptions – we understand you may not make it every week, however, it is expected that you participate as much as possible).
International students need to be motivated to learn Norwegian through this experience, and all courses will be taught in Norwegian-but don’t be intimidated! We will help you learn. There will be gracious guides to help teach and translate.
Norwegian students need to be motivated bridge-builders for international students to your culture, including language.
Partnering as a team in tasks to plant, maintain and harvest the garden.
