Travle måneder i vente for kontoret! 🙌

Vi forbereder for tiden neste handelsmisjonen vår om tresektoren, som skal finne sted i september.

Dette nye oppdraget skal gjøre det mulig for vallonske 🇧🇪, norske 🇳🇴 og svenske 🇸🇪 aktører i sektoren å møtes, utveksle erfaringer og snakke forretning 🪵

🍬 Fra søndag 23. til tirsdag 25. april arrangeres ISM-messen i Köln for å fremme internasjonal handel for godteri- og snacksindustrien.

Nesten 30 vallonske selskaper vil delta i arrangementet for å vise frem sine deilige og smakfulle produkter!

Georges Simenon for 🐰🐣

📖 Leter du fortsatt etter den perfekte påskekrimmen? Du bør absolutt prøve en av de mange krimromanene av den belgiske forfatteren Georges Simenon!

🇧🇪 Han ble født i Liège i 1903 og er en av de mest leste franskspråklige forfatterne i verden. I år feirer vi 120-årsdagen til "faren" til den berømte inspektøren Maigret.

Dessuten er verkene hans blant de mest oversatte i verden. Så du kan lese Simenon på norsk!

🤝 Interesting between Sonaca & SOLiTHOR

✈️ Two Belgian companies have decided to team up to develop battery systems for future aircrafts.

🔋 Walloon aerospace group Sonaca and Genk-based solid-state Lithium battery technology company SOLiTHOR have joined forces to develop safe, high-density rechargeable solid-state Lithium battery systems for regional aircraft and urban air mobility.

👍 Their partnership will also extend to satellite and defense systems.

Sonaca et Solithor ont conclu un partenariat. En ligne de mire pour les deux boîtes belges, le développement de systèmes de batteries "tout solide" destinés à alimenter les avions du futur, et en priorité les avions régionaux.

👩‍🔬 and the fight against cancer

No less than 20 Walloon companies are working to develop new innovative therapeutic approaches to fight cancer, such as:

➡️ Immunotherapy, which involves educating the immune system to recognise and eliminate a tumour.

iTeos Therapeutics currently develops this revolutionary approach.

➡️ Personalised medicine, which advocates a personal follow-up, allowing a more efficient cure.

NOVADIP Biosciences S.A. develops exosome-based therapies, while Catalent Pharma Solutions and Eurogentec both work on the industrial production of advanced therapy products.

It is also worth mentioning OncoDNA, which provides solutions to help identify molecular weaknesses in certain tumor types, and IBA, which offers various solutions to practitioners in charge of treating tumors, including proton therapy.

🔬 , land of clinical studies

🇧🇪 Did you know that 1/5 of European cancer clinical trials take place in Belgium?

Belgium is indeed in the top three countries hosting the most clinical studies per capita in Europe.

In total, 574 studies were conducted in 2021, placing the country in second place, just behind Denmark and ahead of Estonia and the Netherlands.

37% of these these concerned cancer.

🟣 and women's rights

On Wednesday, International Women's Rights Day was celebrated across the globe, stressing gender inequality, and violence and abuse against women.

Here are some of the 40 actions undertaken by Wallonia to combat violence against women:

✔️ the creation of +/- 300 new reception and accommodation places to deal with emergency situations

✔️ a partnership with 1800 'relay point' pharmacies that refer victims to support centres

✔️ the reinforcement of the free Domestic violence helpline, which is accessible 24/7

✔️ and an increase in budgets (x3) to strengthen the field work of associations

Much progress has been made, but much remains to be done. Wallonia works all year around to improve the situation.

🎬 On February 24, 2023, the 48th César Awards ceremony took place at the Olympia in Paris, honouring the best French films of the past year. And some of our Belgian compatriots came out triumphant!

🏆 Virginie Efira won the "Best Actress" award for her role as Mia in Alice Winocour's drama film "Revoir Paris" ("Paris Memories").

✨ Meanwhile, Bouli Lanners received the "Best Supporting Actor" award for his role as Marceau in Dominik Moll's thriller "La Nuit du 12" ("The Night of the 12th").

📽️ Nominated in the "Best Foreign Film" category, Lukas Dhont's coming-of-age drama film "Close" unfortunately did not win the award. However, it is also nominated for an Oscar in the "International Feature Film" category. The 95th Academy Awards will be presented on March 12, 2023. Let's keep our fingers crossed!

👉 AWEX Oslo is pleased to bring to light Leger Uten Grenser s information meeting about fieldwork, which will take place on March 13, 2023 from 18:00 to 20:00 at the Kulturhuset i Bergen.

🔎 MSF is looking for both medical and non-medical professionals who can provide life-saving relief where it is most needed.

❔ You will meet MSF Norway’s project finance manager and fieldworker, Kaja Sviland, who will share her experience and give you an insight into how it is to work in the field for MSF.
