Our satellite library now open as part the State of Fashion Biennale 2026! A curated selection from the extensive collection is presented, from magazines to books and branded ephemera, offering alternative insights into how fashion circulates and presents itself. Visitors are invited to browse through the shelves and grapple with the printed matter using their own bare hands. Welcome!

OPEN CALL: During State of Fashion Biennale 2026, International Library of Fashion Research unveils a satellite library with a selection of 300+ objects from its permanent collection.

On this occasion, we invite visitors — fashion designers, publishers, private collectors and general enthusiasts — to donate contemporary fashion printed matter and ephemera. These collected objects will then become part of the satellite library, available for other visitors to view and grapple with. The donations will then be brought to Oslo and enrolled in International Library of Fashion Research’s permanent archive.

One fashion aficionado’s trash is another librarian’s treasure!

IN THE MAKING: The new ILFR concept kiosk is inspired by the continental European sidewalk newsstand. It is created with repurposed valchromat in a beautiful pearl white shade, sourced from the lovely & local family run wood supplier . We wanted to use already existing material and got multiple boards that were originally used in an exhibition at Designer’s Saturday 2025. This is an example of how to utilize discarded or excess material again and again.

The concept kiosk, designed by in collaboration with ILFR’s & , is divided in seven shelf-modules that together form an orthogonal shape. The shelves are two-sided, having a display function on the exterior side and internal storage function in the interior. Four loose pillars, fixed in the shelves, are supporting a light roof structure where material can be hung and displayed. The modular system enables the ILFR concept kiosk to be transported and installed at different locations — indoors & outdoors.
