Ambassador Dr. Driton Kuqi had the pleasure of meeting with the Ambassador of the European Union to Norway, Nicolas de La Grandville, a highly experienced diplomat with an outstanding contribution to European diplomacy. The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation, European relations, and shared regional and global challenges.

Ambassador Dr. Driton Kuqi today met with the Chargé d’Affaires of the United States in Oslo, Mr. Eric Meyer, who previously served as Deputy Chief of Mission in Skopje.

During the meeting, they discussed the strong partnership with the United States, current global challenges, and the importance of continued cooperation between the two countries. Mr. Meyer was recognized as a diplomat of remarkable experience, professionalism, and human warmth someone from whom there is always much to learn.

On this occasion, Ambassador Dr. Driton Kuqi congratulated him on his new appointment following his confirmation by the U.S. Senate as the new United States Ambassador to Sri Lanka, and wished him success in his new diplomatic mission.

Today, Ambassador Dr. Driton Kuqi held a working meeting with Prof. Dr. Goran Ilić and Prof. Dr. Elena Tilovska Kechedji from University “St. Kliment Ohridski” Bitola.

The meeting highlighted the Embassy’s important role in promoting academic cooperation and strengthening ties between higher education institutions in the Republic of North Macedonia and OsloMet (Oslo Metropolitan University).

Special emphasis was placed on Ambassador Dr. Driton Kuqi’s contribution in initiating, supporting, and facilitating this collaboration, which has significantly contributed to strengthening international academic relations and promoting academic exchange.

During the meeting, Prof. Dr. Goran Ilić presented Ambassador Dr. Driton Kuqi with an artistic painting depicting the Consular City of Bitola as a symbol of appreciation from the University “St. Kliment Ohridski” Bitola for his dedication and continued support in advancing international cooperation with universities in Norway.

As part of this growing partnership, Prof. Dr. Goran Ilić and Prof. Dr. Elena Tilovska Kechedji will participate as guest lecturers at academic events organized by OsloMet, marking an important step toward further deepening institutional cooperation.

This collaboration opens new opportunities for joint research initiatives, academic mobility, and knowledge exchange, supported by the continued engagement of the Embassy and Ambassador Dr. Driton Kuqi.

Ambassador Driton Kuqi participated in the Europe Day celebration held in Oslo, organized by the European Union Delegation to Norway. The event brought together diplomatic representatives, officials, and guests to mark the importance of European unity, cooperation, and shared values.

During the ceremony, Ambassador Kuqi joined fellow diplomats, including Ambassador Nicolas de la Grandville, in commemorating the occasion and engaging in discussions highlighting continued collaboration between European partners and institutions.

The event served as an opportunity to reflect on the significance of European integration and to strengthen diplomatic ties within the broader European community.

Today, Ambassador Dr. Driton Kuqi held a meeting with Julijana Mirchevska Mavrovska, a drama actress and mentor at the children’s theatre school “Babec” from Bitola, as well as with Vasko Mavrovski, Director of the National Theatre in Bitola. The meeting focused on the preparations for the theatre performance “Words,” which will take place in Oslo.

The performance will be held on 15 May 2026 at the Folkets Hus Strømmen, Strømsveien 61, 2010 ( from 19:30). The event is also dedicated to marking 5 May the Day of the Macedonian Language.

This important project, involving students, parents, and teachers from the Macedonian community in Norway, is organized by the Macedonian School for the Study of the Macedonian Language, Religion, Culture, and Traditions in Oslo.

An open invitation is extended for broad attendance and support of this event, which through art and theatre promotes Macedonian culture and the Macedonian language.
