A new poll shows that a majority of likely voters want Congress to pass the “Wall Street Tax Act,” federal legislation that would promote equity, fairness, and raise revenue through a tax on trades of certain financial instruments.

Attac Norge undrer seg etter at statsbudsjettet ble lagt frem: En skatt for finansnæringen som den rødgrønne regjeringen aldri klarte å innføre har nå Siv Jensen foreslått. I våres kom et forslag om det som ville blitt en forbrukeravgift, men forslaget som kommer i dag er det som kom fra Finanskriseutvalget i 2008. Den rødgrønne regjeringen kunne tatt tak i det den gangen, og rettet opp en stor skjevhet i skattesystemet. Isteden er det altså Siv Jensen som kommer med forslaget.

Dette er ikke en Robin Hood-skatt som verden trenger, men det er et viktig skritt i riktig retning. Vi gratulerer!

I Attac sitter vi og klør oss i hodet. En skatt for finansnæringen som den rødgrønne regjeringen aldri klarte å innføre har nå Siv Jensen foreslått.

- Attac Norge vil presisere at dette ikke er en finansskatt slik vi har jobbet for og som EU vil innføre. Dette ligner mer på en finansmoms, og vil ikke hindre skadelig spekulasjon, sier Attac-leder Petter Slaatrem Titland.

Finansskatten Stortinget går inn for, vil ikke klare å hindre skadelig spekulasjon, mener Attac.
