We're excited to launch our first-ever Wetskills Challenge in West Africa—happening in Accra, Ghana 🇬🇭 from January 29 to February 12, 2025!

For two action-packed weeks, young professionals and students from around the world will team up to tackle critical water challenges facing Ghana and West Africa. 🌊💧 Together with experts from industry, government, and NGOs, participants will dive into solutions for issues like:

🌏 Reflecting on an Unforgettable Wetskills Experience in South Korea! 🇰🇷

The winners have been crowned for WetSkills Seoul and we could not be more proud of this amazing team! Below is a summary of the exclusive interview they gave after their winning ceremony.

"The Wetskills project was an amazing chance to dive into a new culture, meet incredible people, and network with professionals from all around the world. We loved connecting with companies and universities that welcomed us so warmly!

Our winning solution? We created a way to collect more environmental data through online participatory science, piloted in a specific region to complement traditional data collection. This experience inspired us to pursue more training in international water management and see water issues from fresh perspectives.

🌍💧 Dive into Wetskills Romania 2024: Can You Help Shape Romania's Water Future? ⛰️

Are you a student or young professional with a passion for water, climate action, and sustainability? Here’s your chance to use your skills to drive meaningful change! 🌊

From November 16–28, 2024, Bucharest will host the seventh edition of Wetskills-Romania. Participants will embark on a unique team-building journey, followed by an intensive week dedicated to tackling some of Romania’s most pressing water challenges. 🤝

Romania boasts the European Union’s largest river delta—the Danube Delta 🏞️—and faces complex water and wastewater issues in both urban and rural areas. That’s where your ideas and expertise come into play!

At Wetskills-Romania 2024, you’ll collaborate with an international team of motivated problem solvers, brainstorm creative solutions, and present your recommendations at the residence of the Dutch ambassador. 🌟

🌏✨ Touchdown in South Korea! 🇰🇷

We finally made it to South Korea! After a long journey, we dove straight into the local flavors with a delicious Korean BBQ—nothing like that sizzling goodness to kick off an adventure! 🍖🔥 With full bellies and well-rested minds, we spent our first day exploring the fascinating Sihwa Tidal Power Plant, one of only five in the world! 🌊💡 It was inspiring to witness the immense water movement between Sihwa Lake and the open ocean, generating power while boosting the lake’s ecosystem.

Next up: a serene cruise along the 18-km Ara Canal 🚤—surrounded by cyclists, lush glasshouses, and a vibe that made us feel right at home. But before we could relax fully… CASE WORK awaits! 😉

Huge thanks to K-Water for the warm welcome and for being our incredible hosts. Here’s to more adventures ahead! 🙌

🌍💧 Congratulations to "The Drought Rangers," for winning the Wetskills Zimbabwe Challenge 2024! 🎉

This incredible team—Ebenezer Padi Narh (Ghana), Chenai Kanenungo (Zimbabwe), Chantele Kudzai Baipai (Zimbabwe), Mbekezeli Sibindi (Zimbabwe), and Mzingaye Ncube (Zimbabwe)—focused on "Enhancing Drought Preparedness and Resilience in Bulawayo." 🇿🇼 Their innovative solution, the SIYEPHAMBILI PLAN, uses cutting-edge tech like LoRa networks and Sigfox technology for real-time data flow, helping Bulawayo manage water smarter and proactively. 💻

By bringing together government, civil society, and the public, their approach ensures sustainable, long-term water management, shifting the city from reacting to droughts to preventing them. The benefits? 💡 Informed decision-making, collaboration, and public awareness, all working together for a future of water conservation and shared responsibility. 💧🤝

We are super proud of the winners of this year’s Wetskills Zimbabwe and can’t wait to see the kind of things they will achieve in the future! We are also very proud of the other participants, as they have shown great determination and creative thinking skills! Such promising change makers! 👩‍🏫👨‍🏫

Wetskills South Korea starts in the country's bustling capital, Seoul. 🌆 Here you will go on an immersive journey into water innovation, with a specific focus on island water management! 🏝️ The Finale and Award Ceremony will take place on Jeju Island, UNESCO Heritage and one of the seven New Wonders of Nature! 🌱

Wetskills Romania will take place in Bucharest, a city known for its rich history and beautiful architecture. 🏛️ The program begins with a teambuilding exercise, where you will get the chance to bond with fellow water enthusiasts! 💧The Awarding Ceremony will take place at the residence of the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands! 🏰
