Last week we welcomed students from a range of studies for a “Speaking Diplomatically” event with our colleague Rowan Newman.
Currently the UK's Serious and Organised Crime Coordinator for Western Europe, Rowan brought over 20 years of experience in international law enforcement, diplomacy, and security policy to the conversation. He shared real-world insights from his work across Europe, South Asia, Russia, and Central Asia.
From tackling cross-border threats to building international partnerships, Rowan gave a fascinating look at how diplomacy and security work hand in hand. He spoke openly the psychological challenges of his career, offering a candid, and personal perspective.
