Քիմիական զենքի արգելման կազմակերպությանը Հայաստանի կողմից կամավոր ֆինանսական աջակցություն հատկացում
Մայիսի 12-ին ՔԶԱԿ-ում ՀՀ մշտական ներկայացուցիչ Վիկտոր Բիյագովը և ՔԶԱԿ գլխավոր տնօրեն Ֆերնանդո Արիասը ստորագրեցին Հայաստանի Հանրապետության կառավարության և Քիմիական զենքի արգելման կազմակերպության միջև կամավոր ֆինանսական հատկացման մասին համաձայնագիրը։
Հայաստանի հատկացրած ֆինանսական աջակցությունը կուղղվի Սիրիայում ՔԶԱԿ առաքելությունների հավատարմագրային հիմնադրամին և ՔԶԱԿ Քիմիայի և տեխնոլոգիաների կենտրոնի գործունեությանը։ Մասնավորապես, Սիրիայում ՔԶԱԿ առաքելությունների հավատարմագրային հիմնադրամի միջոցներով ապահովվում են Սիրիական քիմիական զենքի ծրագրի ամբողջական շրջանակի նույնականացման, հայտարարագրման ենթակա բոլոր պաշարների ստուգման և համանման այլ ուղղություններով ՔԶԱԿ տեխնիկական քարտուղարության իրականացրած աշխատանքները։ Ինչ վերաբերում է ՔԶԱԿ Քիմիայի և տեխնոլոգիաների կենտրոնի գործունեությանը, ապա վերջինս միտված է խաղաղ նպատակներով քիմիայի կիրառման խրախուսմանը, մասնակից պետությունների կարողությունների բարձրացման, գիտական շրջանակների համագործակցության խթանմանը։
Համաձայնագրի ստորագրման արարողության ավարտին ՔԶԱԿ գործադիր տնօրեն Ֆերնանդո Արիասը երախտիքի խոսք հայտնեց Հայաստանի կառավարությանը նշյալ կարևոր ուղղություններով աշխատանքների ապահովման նպատակով հատկացված աջակցության համար։ Իր պատասխան խոսքում դեսպան Բիյագովն ընդգծեց ՔԶԱԿ Քիմիայի և տեխնոլոգիաների կենտրոնի գործունեության կարևորությունը, ինչպես նաև Սիրիական քիմիական զենքի ծրագրի հասցեագրման անհրաժեշտությունը։
Voluntary Contribution by Armenia to the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons
On 12 May, H.E. Ambassador Viktor Biyagov, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Armenia to the OPCW, and H.E. Mr. Fernando Arias, Director-General of the OPCW, signed an agreement on a voluntary financial contribution by the Government of the Republic of Armenia to the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW).
Armenia’s financial contribution has been allocated to the Trust Fund for Syria Missions and the activities of the Centre for Chemistry and Technology. In particular, the Trust Fund for Syria Missions finances the work carried out by the OPCW Technical Secretariat aimed at identifying the full scope of the Syrian chemical weapons programme, verifying all stockpiles subject to declaration, and undertaking related activities.
The activities of the Centre for Chemistry and Technology are aimed at promoting the peaceful uses of chemistry, capacity building of States Parties, and fostering cooperation among scientific communities.
At the end of the signing ceremony, H.E. Mr. Fernando Arias, Director-General of the OPCW, expressed his appreciation to the Government of Armenia for its contribution in support of work carried out in these important dimensions. In his remarks, H.E. Ambassador Biyagov, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Armenia to the OPCW, underscored the importance of the activities of the Centre for Chemistry and Technology, as well as the need to continue addressing issues related to the Syrian chemical weapons programme.
