We had an excellent response to our call for proposals for the Impact and Innovation Fund, underlining both the inventiveness of our field and our focus on making a difference for communities

From among the many great ideas, we're happy to announce the three grantees for 2026:

• Lietuvos nacionalinė Martyno Mažvydo biblioteka, working to boost access to accessible content in local languages
• Library Aid Africa, co-creating digital inclusion partnerships with libraries across Africa
• Qatar National Library مكتبة قطر الوطنية, strengthening research infrastructures, including in zones of instability

The years since 2015 have seen major changes in the knowledge and information environment

Awareness is growing of the need for skilled and empowered populations, as well as a global, equitable and trustworthy information ecosystem

There is a need both for investment, and protection against attacks on research and wider knowledge infrastructures and institutions

It's time for a more comprehensive, coherent approach to knowledge and information in the global development agenda

Last month, we invited Members, volunteers and friends from across North America for a day of discussion about the trends facing our field, and tools we can use to deal with an uncertain future

In a workshop (with a big emphasis on the 'work'), participants drew on the ideas shared by insightful speakers, and themselves explored how to consciously make the future part of our thinking today
