We will not escape the political consequences as long as we know the position of our rights, then:
I reminded the Papuan Leaders who were pro-NKRI and contra-political to the Indonesian Government.
We need to meet and debate our political rights in the face of the attention of the Indonesian Government.

I’d like to explain some of the facts about West Papua.

West Papua has no ties with Indonesia. Geographically, West Papua sits beside Papua New Guinea (PNG), forming the western half of the resource-rich island of New Guinea, about 300 km from the northern tip of Australia.

Its indigenous people have Melanesian roots, making them culturally and ethnically similar to their counterpart in PNG, but not to Indonesians.

On 19 November 1969 UNGA decided about the future of West Papua, it become a part of Indonesia without the desire of West Papuan People. Caribbean and other African states refused to recognize the so-called “act of free choice” of 1969 from the Indonesia as “act of no choice.”

Eventually on 19 November, 1969, the UNGA rejected a move by Dahomey for an adjournment for further consultation.

It then voted on a Ghanaian amendment which stated : “Further bearing in mind article XVIII of the New York Agreement which, inter alia, calls for an act of free choice in accordance with international practice .... Decides that the people of West Papua should be given a further opportunity, by the end of 1975, to carry out the act of free choice envisaged in the New York Agreement.

This was a black day for the West Papuan People. UNGA decided that the Melanesian from West Papua became Indonesians.

On 1 July 1971, the leader of the resistance movement, Brigadier-General Seth Jafeth Rumkorem together with Jacob Hendrik Pray, Uri Richard Joweny,Philemon Jarisetouw, Louis Nussy(now Louis Nousy),Marthen Tabu, Jereth Wajoy and comrades, unilaterally proclaimed West Papua (the Papuan name of the territory of the former Netherlands New Guinea) as an independent, democratic republic.

This was the desire of the West Papuan People as expressed in the Unilateral Proclamation. This is the answer of West Papuan People.
