Wavemakers United is an online platform that educates the youth about challenges in water, energy and food sectors. All with a mindset of positive energy!

Wavemakers United is an online platform where we aim to educate the youth within local communities about the functions and values of water. Students, young professionals and athletes become ambassadors who can learn about worldwide water challenges and solutions. We aim to create awareness by an approach of local to global to local, where youth in their local communities access the platform and learn from other water enthusiasts about worldwide challenges and solutions building a global network of ‘Wavemakers’. Then, with that knowledge they are able to take action in their local communities.

Be a drop. Make a wave. 🌊

From New York to Abu Dhabi and beyond!

1 Million Drops, 1 Promise Kept is here and it’s powered by young people like you.

After the UN2023 Gamechanger Challenge, we committed to the Water Action Agenda of educating 1 million young people about water by 2030. Now it’s time to speed up and keep that promise, together.

Here is the plan:

💧Learn your connection to water
💧 Promise one real action
💧 Keep it

Host a 20-40 minute activity on March 2027. A class, a club a beach walk, a debate, anything. Everyone writes or draws a promise on a 1MAP postcard. Thousands of promises, one global wave.

No experience needed. Just you and your people.

Over 2 billion people still can’t count on clean water. Join us on our mission to change that!

Let’s do this together!!

Have you ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes in the international city of peace and justice?

Last week Wavemakers United participated in the Just Peace Open Day in The Hague, joining institutions like the International Criminal Court, the Peace Palace, and OPCW in opening their doors to the public, making new connections, and sharing the story of how we work with youth globally to deliver on equitable and sustainable water for all.

In Stockholm we demonstrated how to move beyond youth participation to youth implementation.

At World Water Week our conversation moved beyond why young people should be involved in water. The more important question became: what does it take to make that involvement last? We need to connect local ownership with the institutions, resources, opportunities and evidence needed to turn youth engagement into action.

This means moving beyond one-off events and consultations towards structures that keep working between milestones, it requires connecting young people with education, careers, innovation, and real decision making, while linking local water action into wider agenda.

This is where we see the role of Wavemakers United and the Waves: it is not another programme or event but a locally owned ecosystem that connects existing people, organisations and initiatives and helps turn global ambition into local action.

World Water Week didn’t give us a finished blueprint. It sharpened the challenge and strengthened our commitment to building what comes next.

From participation to ownership. From moments to momentum. From ambition to implementation.

A dialogue, not a keynote.

Join us at World Water Week for our interactive session!

Our featured Wavemakers Santiago Gómez, Gijs J. van Nes and Tilly Stroo, aim to spotlight the vital role of young people in addressing global water challenges and share their insights and experiences from youth-led water initiatives.

This session promises to be an inspiring exchange of ideas and solutions. Don’t miss this opportunity to be part of a vibrant conversation about the future of water stewardship led by the youth.

Expect reflection, discussion, and open exchange. You’ll leave having spoken to someone you didn’t know before.

Organised by Wavemakers United in collaboration with UNESCO and the Latin America and the Caribbean Youth Parliament for Water.

From attendance to action. 🌊

For several years, we’ve worked alongside groups including International Water Assoc., Water Youth Network UNESCO , Groundwater Youth Network to get youth seats at the table: the 2023 UN Water Conference, 2024 World Water Forum, and now the upcoming 2026 UN Water Conference.

But showing up isn’t enough. Next is action.

We’re building spaces for young delegates to connect, share what they’ve learned, and collaborate directly with established leaders.

Because real progress means breaking down the walls between generations.

Last week at the UN HLPF, this message landed loud and clear. Now we’re building on that momentum.

What a week in NYC 🗽

We just wrapped up the United Nations High Level Political Forum and our board member Emily Lorra Hines was there representing Wavemakers United

Her big message? We can’t reach the SDGs (especially sdg 6) without youth in the room. Not just showing up to conferences, but actually connecting, collaborating, and turning talk into action

Emily linked up with UNESCO, Water Youth Network, YouthWaterParliament, European Youth Parliament and so many more incredible organisations, plus our amazing advisors who helped push the message together 🙌

Huge thanks to the UAE for hosting and Maggie White for the invitation to speak.

Leaving NY with big dreams and even bigger plans. Young people are ready, let’s build this future together 🌍

The days in Singapore proved what we already believed, water resilience lives or dies by the people behind it. And in Singapore, those people showed up.

Established voices and total newcomers. Students, innovators, global change makers, veterans. All in the same space, all pulling in the same direction.

So many new faces that we happily welcome into our Wavemakers United community!

New waves aren’t something we’re waiting for. They are already forming 💙

Day one at and the energy is already electric ⚡

Our director Tilly is on the ground in Singapore connecting, listening, and championing what we believe in every single day: that water resilience isn’t just built with pipes and policies. It’s built with people.

Highlight of Day 1? A workshop that asked participants to imagine water-resilient cities of the future, from Jakarta to Singapore to Aotearoa. The answer that rose above the noise?

People. People. People.
