🎭 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹 𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸!

Hello from the Interreg Meuse-Rhine team! Today, we're skipping our usual FAQ Friday to share some information for your own planning as Carnival is (almost) here! 🎉

From Maastricht to Aachen, Hasselt, Liège, Eupen, Cologne, and Trier – many of our colleagues will be celebrating this colourful season. So, we might not be as quick to answer your questions as you are used to early next week. (Don’t worry, we’ll be back!)

On Wednesday, most colleagues will return ready to help you - perhaps with a little glitter left over. 😉

For now, enjoy the “jecke” days, shout “drie keer Alaaf”, “vieve Liège” or "Helau", and celebrate Carnival in your own special way. See you after the party! 🎉

𝗪𝗼𝘄, 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮 𝗯𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗵 𝗼𝗳 𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗮𝘀! 😍

For Call 5, cut-off moment 3, we received 29 project applications. That’s 22 completely fresh ideas (step 1) and 7 full project applications (step 2) that already made it past the first step before. 🎉

Big cheers to everyone who handed in! We love your energy - and it looks like you’re enjoying our faster application process and the chance to send in step 1 just in English OR French, Dutch, and German in this Call. Plus, who doesn’t like a better funding rate? 🙌

Right now, our team is busy verifying whether your projects meet the eligibility criteria. After this, each idea gets a closer look. The Steering Committee will meet in March to decide which projects can go ahead. So, if you submitted a step 2 application - fingers crossed! If you’re at step 1, get ready: if you get a green light in March, you can submit your full application at one of the next cut-off moments, either already in April or later in July 2026. However, be aware that this Call still works on a "first-come, first-served" principle, so speed pays off! 💪

We wish you a wonderful New Year from all of us at Interreg Meuse-Rhine (NL-BE-DE)! Last year, we worked together across borders to build a stronger region. 𝑺𝒆𝒂𝒔𝒐𝒏’𝒔 𝒈𝒓𝒆𝒆𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒔 𝒇𝒓𝒐𝒎 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑰𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒓𝒆𝒈 𝑴𝒆𝒖𝒔𝒆-𝑹𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒆 𝒕𝒆𝒂𝒎

In the Meuse-Rhine region, we speak four languages, but there is one language everyone understands: 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐮𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧. It is this language that has allowed us this year to bridge borders, strengthen partnerships, and make a lasting impact, not only in numbers and projects, but in real connections between people and organizations.

As we look ahead to 2026, let us dream together of what is possible. Not just reaching targets, but creating opportunities where others see limits. Not just solving challenges, but building a future where cross-border cooperation is natural, effortless, and inspiring.

Most of our wonderful colleagues decided to start the holiday season a bit early, to enjoy some festive cheer. So please be aware that there will be limited availability to react to questions or concerns starting 22 December 🎅✨

The central office in Maastricht will be completely closed from 25 December to 4 January - time for Christmas cookies and fireworks! 🎉🎁

So, if you have a burning question that needs to be answered this year, be sure to get in touch with us as soon as possible. Otherwise, we will be back to reply to your messages (and recover from the holiday food coma) at the beginning of January.

🚀 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗲𝘅𝗰𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘂𝗽 - 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆!

Since July, our call for cross-border projects has drawn great interest. Many organisations have already sent in their applications. This means part of the call budget is already reserved - but there is still money left for strong new ideas!

We are now assessing the applications from the 2nd cut-off. This means we don’t know the exact available budget for the next cut-off moment just yet. But don’t worry - we will share all details as soon as possible!

Why should you prepare your project now?
✔️ First-come, first-served - applying early increases your chance!
✔️ Up to 60% of costs covered by EU funding
✔️ In this call, we offer flexible language options for the first draft (Dutch, French, German, OR only English)

The next cut-off is 26 January 2026. If you have a strong project idea, you can contact your Regional Antenna today - they are ready to help you prepare and find (additional) partners.

𝟵 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝗴𝗼 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱! 🚀

Last week, the first batch of applications for the ongoing call for projects was assessed. 9 great ideas made it to the next step! They’re now invited to tell us more about their projects. 😍

Now, the ball lies in their court. They can send their final application at any time before July 2026. But here’s a little secret: speed matters! The programme budget is slowly depleting, so the fastest projects that convince the selection committee get the last spots. For those who are quick and will hand in their full application for the next cut-off date on November 3, 2025, the final decision could be made as early as the end of the year. 🙌

𝟭𝟭 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗰𝘂𝘁-𝗼𝗳𝗳 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹

🌟 Thanks to simpler language requirements and a higher funding rate, we’re already seeing great results. Our first cut-off moment for project submissions brought in a total of 11 projects. They applied over the summer, requesting nearly €24 million in EU funding! If all are approved to move to the next stage and finally contracted, they’ll account for more than half of the available Call 5 budget.

Now it’s time for phase two: diving into all those creative ideas! Our team is ready for the challenge (luckily, we’re well-stocked with coffee and chocolates ☕🍫) and can’t wait to see what everyone has dreamed up. It is going to be a busy, but also an exciting period in our office!

🚀 𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗮𝗹𝗹 4: 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁! 🚀

We are proud to announce that the decision-making process for our Call 4 projects has been successfully completed. No fewer than 10 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 will be added to our existing portfolio, bringing the total number of 30 𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 in the Interreg Meuse-Rhine (NL-BE-DE) region!

These new initiatives will further contribute to cross-border cooperation, innovation and sustainable development within our region. We look forward to all the opportunities and impact these projects will bring.
