DOPE stands for Deskunding Ongebonden Pragmatische Eenheid, which is translated into Knowledgeable Independent Pragmatic Unit. With more than 20 years of experience in student representation, DOPE has always strived to act in the best interests of the students of Maastricht University, and still plans to do so in the future. We are the connection between students and staff, and make sure concerns are voiced and acted upon.

If you wish to apply for both a council and board year, we kindly ask you to submit two separate motivation letters. These can either be in Dutch or in English.

A special thanks to X for the interesting and interactive Presentation Skills Training during this years DOPE weekend! 🩵

Jan Scheele organized 50 TEDx events worldwide, from Eindhoven and Amsterdam to New York and Baghdad, for organizations such as CERN, United Nations, Police and Defense. He coached more than 200 TED speakers and based on that, he set up ‘Talk like TED’, for professionals who want to work on their speaking skills in a unique way. In recent years he has been able to guide more than 100 organizations and 3500 professionals in this, from Google, Shell and Deloitte to the Police, Houthoff a well-known DJ, State Secretary, politicians and top entrepreneurs. This starts with the story itself, but also goes into more detail about the correct narrative form, posture, avoiding speaking fear and more.
In his training he discusses the ingredients that make the TED talks so successful and which you can also apply in your next presentation.

We would like to introduce you to the Board, The University Council and The Faculty Council of DOPE!

-The Faculty Council-

Being a member of DOPE can give you the opportunity to get selected for the Faculty Council. As a student representative, you are given the opportunity to help your fellow students. You tackle problems like mental health, the quality of educations and the workload. You get the chance to know more about how faculty councils work and about how decisions are made faculty wide. You can really make a difference with your voice!

The University Council (UC) is the primary participator body at Maastricht University, comprising 10 students and 10 staff members. The UC holds authority over key matters; including the institutional plan, the student’s charter, administrative and management regulations, student facilities, the establishment and discontinuation of degree programs, and regulations related to health, safety and well-being. So quite a lot! In addition to its authoritative role, the UC also provides advisory input, particularly concerning budget matters.
The dedicated efforts of DOPE faction aim to negotiate effectively on behalf of our constituents.
