We increased our investments towards the end of the year and now have eight similar equipped cabin trolleys for commercial medical es**rts, four of them based in the Netherlands and four in Germany.

Having owned several Inogen One G2 oxygen concentrators for quite some years, we now purchased some Inogen One G5´s together with large spare batteries. This is the newest generation and most efficient type of oxygen concentrator, delivering up to six litres of on-demand flow per minute without decrease in oxygen percentage. This is the problem of many other brands: the higher the flow per minute, the lower the delivered oxygen concentration will get! With our Inogen One G5´s we have the best possible equipment to provide safe patient transfers.

Where cabin altitude in an air ambulance jet may equal 6000 feet (just under 2000 metres), in a larger airline aircraft it will equal 8000 feet or even more during flight. This means patients (and also passengers) will have a lower average oxygen saturation in larger airplanes. Considering this, it absolutely makes sense to look for a medical es**rt company that uses the most modern equipment.

Besides caring of patients it often is very nice to have relatives with you. Besides the ability to answer questions concerning details of medical history etc, relatives are a well to provide information about national habits, as well as cultural and religious origins. During most flights we become friends within a few hours of flight. Relatives told us: „On from now you are our brother!“ This means a lot to us, and shows deepest respect of the family towards our efforts to care for the patient – their relative, but also our sincere respect for the patient and the relatives who support the possible positive medical evolution of the patient.

We always fly with a medical consultant and a registered nurse in the field of anesthesia/critical care. Often, we even can improve the situation of the patient during flight.

For us, working in this worldwide multicultural field, it shows our ambition to take superior care of the patient and make the realtives feel comfortable. This includes halal food, undisturbed silent periods to pray, etc.

During this flight from Karachi, Pakistan to Doha, Qatar, our medical crew was shown how to fold and wear the Ghutra.

Every international patient transfer is far more than „just flying a patient from A to B“. This distinguishes our service from many other companies.

Last wednesday we started the monthly air medical education training. As it is not possible to have all personnel present, I will start doing online lectures. On our website I included a separate page for the monthly education. It is password protected as it is a tremendous amount of work, and also downloads are not possible.
Next wednesday (18 JAN) at 19:00 local I will do the Altitude Physiology training online. On the website the PDF is in English as are the flash videos, but I will explain everything in German via VOIP. The password will stay valid for a few days, so you can review it once more.

Our "Air Medical Workshop" just has been accredited with 30 CME credits from a German Physician Board. This 5-day course brings all important theoretical knowledge as well as hands-on training parts.
We already have an invitation from Bangkok, to perform the course and learn from each other.

It happens very seldom, but on this long range trip there was a small technical issue discovered during the fuel stop in Samsun. Luckily, our aviation partner has got quite some air ambulance jets and enough pilots. A spare plane was sent to Samsun, arriving three hours later. We had the external power unit for electricity and heating, and more than enough oxygen and medication for the patient. We informed the customer, the ground ambulance and the hospital in the UK on our later arrival, and everything went fine.
