The liberation of People of Colour and the fight against all forms of racial oppression must be connected to the fight against capitalism. Racism is a central tool of capitalism and cannot be overcome through corporate diversity or simply through individual change. The fight against racism and the far-right is in the interest of the entire working-class. Only together we can make racism, fascism, and capitalism history.

On Sunday the 10th of March we are calling for an International Working Women’s Day demonstration under the slogan "Join the global fight against the far-right and oppression."

We realise that in times of the rising tide of the far-right that threatens our fundamental rights, our safety and existence, a demonstration for International Women’s Day must be one of protest against racism, fascism, and the far right. The recent electoral victory of Geert Wilders marks a dangerous far-right pushback against the rights of women, Muslims, LGBTQIA+ people, in particular trans people, and all of the working class. This isn't just a local phenomenon. Wilders' victory echoes the rise of similar figures like Meloni in Italy and Milei in Argentina. The far-right and fascists globally share a common goal: to divide society, shatter the confidence of the working class, and strengthen capitalism amidst a worsening global crisis.
During this crisis, we see the sharpening of imperialist aggressions. It is of utmost importance that a demonstration like this also stands in unequivocal solidarity with the people of Gaza and Palestine. The attempts of Pinkwashing by Israel, i.e. of portraying itself as a q***r and feminist-friendly country, need to be shattered considering the reality of LGBTQIA+ people, women and children forced to live under Israeli occupation and being murdered in their tens of thousands by a settler colony. The resistance of working-class women is grounded in combating all forms of oppression, a vital front in our global struggle for equality and justice.

In this light, and the search for a world of peace, justice and solidarity, it is important to remember the roots of International Women's Day. Our demonstration is a call to reconnect with this rich history and to champion a feminism for the 99% – one that unites us in our diversity and strengthens our struggle against those seeking to divide us. Let our voices in Groningen strengthen our struggle against those seeking to divide us and sound in a tradition of a truly international Working Women's Day, as we stand in solidarity for a world of solidarity, justice, and freedom for all.

Our next meeting is coming up on Thursday, January 25th, at 7pm at O’Ceallaigh!

This event will consist on a movie night where we will watch Pride (2014) 🏳‍🌈, a movie based on the true story of a group of q***r activists who raised the money and showed solidarity to help families affected by the British miners’ strike in 1984, founding "Le****ns and G**s Support the Miners".

We are super excited to announce that ✨ Nicola Field ✨, an original member of "Le****ns and G**s Support the Miners" whose story featured in the movie Pride (‼️) will join us online to give an introduction and for a q&a session after the movie!

The screening will be in English with English subtitles, and the discussion will be in English, but Dutch participations are welcome.

Unfortunately, the venue is not wheelchair accessible.

If you are not in Groningen but still want to join us, you can do so via zoom but you will have to stream the movie yourself.

We are shocked by the news of at least 500 killed by Israeli attack on the al-Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza. Follow for updates on the demonstration happening currently and any upcoming demos or events.
Lets build solidarity and use it to fight against our criminal governments support for the ongoing ethnic cleansing in Palestine.
