With these items, people can learn a trade or start their own small company. We do this work under the international banner 'Tools4Change'.

We believe that everyone deserves a chance to build up a reasonable minimum living standard, and this applies as much to people in The Netherlands as in developing countries. In our workshop, we refurbish used tools (sewing- and knitting machines, bicycles, computers and tools for technical professions), and send these to projects in developing countries. We are talking about tools and machines for use in fields such as textile processing (sewing, knitting), agriculture, administration and many other technical professions. As technical professions, you could think about becoming a carpenter, plumber, car mechanic, electrician, metal worker and bricklayer. We put together sets of tools for each trade or profession: either individual sets or sets for groups of people. In the Netherlands, we work with people who have special needs (such as autism or a mental health issue), and with volunteers and the (longer term) unemployed. In developing countries, the refurbished tools go to training centres and other social organisations, and thereby give the most vulnerable in society a chance of work and an income. Our Dutch name ‘Betuwe Wereldwijd’ refers to the region 'The Betuwe' where our workshop is based. And 'Wereldwijd' simply means 'Worldwide'.

We recently received a wonderful feedback report from our partner, Prison Fellowship Zambia (PFZ), and it was so encouraging to read how the tools and machines we provided are making a real difference in people's lives.

As PFZ beautifully explains:

"For PFZ, these are not simply donated items. They are tools that create possibilities.

One of the most important outcomes of skills training is confidence. For someone who has experienced poverty, unemployment, social vulnerability, or the challenges of reintegrating into the community after incarceration, the opportunity to learn a practical skill can be an important first step towards rebuilding their life."

This is exactly what makes this work so meaningful. It's not just about providing tools and equipment; it's about creating opportunities, restoring confidence and giving people the chance to build a better future.

Exciting news! This Thursday, 22 October, at 7:10 PM, our organisation will be featured on the Dutch TV programme “BinnensteBuiten”!

The film crew spent a whole day with us, capturing what we do and interviewing several members of our team. The programme will give viewers a behind-the-scenes look at our organisation and the many different activities that make our work so special.

We’re really looking forward to seeing the result and sharing a glimpse of our work with everyone!

We’re closed for the day on 14 October!

Every year, Tools4change organises a fun day out for all our employees. It’s a chance to take a break from work, get to know each other better in a different setting, enjoy some time together and catch up.

Tomorrow, 14 October, it’s that time of year again! Therefore, Betuwe Wereldwijd will be closed for the day.

We’ll be back on 15 October, ready to assist you again!

Last week, we had a visit from a film crew from the Dutch TV programme BinnensteBuiten. It was quite exciting to suddenly have a camera and an entire film crew around us! 😊

But most of all, it was great fun to talk about our work, our projects, and why this work is so close to our hearts.

We have no idea yet what the final programme will look like, but we are very curious to see the result!

Unfortunately, we don’t know exactly when the programme will be broadcast. As soon as we know more, we will of course let you know.

We’re getting bicycles ready to be shipped to the Mr Huber stichting in Suriname, while also refurbishing tools and machines for projects in Kenya.

There’s lots of work going on — fixing, restoring, packing and getting things ready. Together, we’re giving materials a second life and making sure they get to where they’re needed.

Tools4Change provides tools and machines for many different technical professions, but did you know that we also provide tools for agriculture projects?

We support fields such as textile processing (sewing and knitting), agriculture, administration, and many other technical professions. This can include carpentry, plumbing, car mechanics, electrical work, metalworking, and bricklaying.

We’re always curious to see whether the tools we provide are similar to the ones you use. That’s why it’s so nice for us to see the tools being used in practice and making a difference in your projects!

Sometimes, something as simple as a bicycle can make such a big difference in a child’s life. It can help them get to school, join their friends, and have the opportunity to receive an education.

There it goes! 👋

A whole container full of tools and machines is on its way to Uganda!

The container holds more than 8,000 kilos of materials, including almost 100 sewing machines. It was quite a job to collect everything, prepare the materials and load the container – but what a great result!

The container is now on its way, with the expected arrival in Uganda at the end of October.

On the other side of the world, several organisations are eagerly awaiting their tools and machines. They will be able to use them for their students, helping them develop practical skills and prepare for employment or starting their own businesses. Egoli Africa Uganda Bulogo Women's Group

A digital future for girls and boys in Zambia! Lift Up Lives Foundation

The computers from Tools4Change are helping children gain valuable digital skills from a young age. By learning how to work with computers, they become more independent and improve their opportunities for the future.

In today’s modern society, digital skills are essential. Access to computers and digital education can make a real difference in children’s lives and help open the door to new opportunities.

What great news! We are so happy to hear that the tools and machines have arrived safely at ALEJO community support project-ALEJO CSP in Zambia.

ALEJO supports farmers, craftspeople and starting entrepreneurs in Mufulira with training and tools, helping them generate their own income and build a more independent future.

By providing practical skills and access to tools, ALEJO strengthens the local community and creates sustainable economic opportunities, especially for women and young people.

We are very happy to see that the tools and machines from the Netherlands can contribute to this important work!
