KADUNA STATE GOVERNMENT RESTORES WASH UNITS TO FULL-FLEDGED DEPARTMENTS ACROSS ALL 23 LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREAS

The Kaduna State Government has approved the restoration of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Units to full-fledged Departments in all the 23 Local Government Areas of the state with immediate effect.

The approval was granted by His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Dr. Uba Sani, CON, as part of the administration's commitment to strengthening the delivery of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene services at the grassroots and enhancing public health outcomes across the state.

In line with this approval, the Kaduna State Local Government Service Board has released deployment letters to the newly appointed Directors of WASH and other personnel assigned to the restored departments.

This landmark decision marks a significant milestone in the state's efforts to institutionalize and strengthen the WASH sector within the local government system, thereby improving access to safe water, sanitation facilities, and hygiene services for communities across Kaduna State.

The WASH family expresses profound appreciation to His Excellency, Senator Dr. Uba Sani, CON, for his visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to improving public service delivery. Special appreciation also goes to the Honourable Commissioner for Local Government, the Chairman of the Kaduna State Local Government Service Board and his management team, the Director General of RUWASSA, the UNICEF Representative, Mrs. Theresa Pamma, and the Honourable Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure for their invaluable support and contributions toward the successful restoration of the WASH Departments.
Finally, appreciation is extended to all WASH staff and stakeholders for their commitment and perseverance throughout the process. The department solicits continued prayers and support as it embarks on this renewed responsibility, with the hope that Almighty Allah will grant wisdom, guidance, and success in delivering quality services to the people of Kaduna State.

The Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Department of Zaria Local Government has officially flagged off its 2026 Chlorination Campaign as part of ongoing efforts to ensure access to safe drinking water and prevent waterborne diseases across the local government area.

The campaign was formally launched by the Director of the WASH Department, Malam Buhari Junaidu, who reaffirmed the local government’s commitment to safeguarding public health through improved water quality and sanitation services.

During the flag-off ceremony, the Assistant Deputy Director of Water Quality, Malam Mohammed Mohammed, distributed chlorine supplies to ward officers from Tudun Wada, Limancin Kona, Kwarbai B, Wucicciri, and Dutsen Abba for onward distribution and implementation within their respective communities.

The chlorine, purchased by Zaria Local Government, will be used to disinfect both contaminated and non-contaminated wells, ensuring that residents have access to clean and safe water for domestic use.

The WASH Department announced that the chlorination exercise will commence across six political wards:

1. Kwarbai A
2. Tudun Wada
3. Kaura
4. Wucicciri
5. Dutsen Abba
6. Limancin Kona

Residents of the benefiting communities are encouraged to cooperate with WASH officials during the exercise, as the initiative is aimed at reducing the incidence of waterborne diseases and promoting healthier communities.

The Zaria Local Government remains committed to implementing sustainable water, sanitation, and hygiene interventions that improve the well-being of its citizens.

Today Tuesday 8th December, 2025 I led the Team of Students on attachment from Jama'atu College of Health Technology and Mu'assasa School of Health Technology on sanitary assessment of Tudun Wada Modern Market.
The above pictures shows the sanitary condition of the Market.
We inspected the Toilet Facility and the Abatoir.
Also some uncompleted shops have been turned into defecation sites.
There is no provision for Refuse Dumping Site in the Market.
Generally the sanitary condition of the Market is poor.

Also It students from Jama'atu And Mu'assasa Colleges of Health Technology.

ROUTINE BOREHOLE MAINTAINANCE BY LAYIN LAWANDI WASHCOM
Today Wednesday 5th November, 2025, the WaASHCOM of the community undertakes the routine maintainance of the only public borehole in the Community.
During the process some of the borehole parts had to be changed.
If you could remember some months back the head of the borehole was stolen and a total of 100000 was spent to buy another one.

ANNUAL INTEGRATED MEDICAL OUTREACH IN TUDUN KUSA, WUCICCIRI WARD ZARIA LOCAL GOVERNMENT BY UNICEF
Today Tuesday 4th November, 2025 the UNICEF Specialist Mrs Theresa Pamma and the delegation from Country's Office were in Tudun KUSA Village for free Medical Outreach. Medical Examinations was conducted and Drugs was given to people free.
