FUN, FITNESS AND FRIENDSHIP AS NYSC ADAMAWA COMMENCES INTER-PLATOON SPORTS

Corps Members of the 2026 Batch “C” Stream I have been charged to prioritise safety and avoid dangerous play as the Inter-Platoon Sports Competition commenced at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Damare, Adamawa State.

Giving the charge while declaring the competition open, the State Coordinator, Mrs. Osoroh Caroline Chinedu, represented by the Camp Director, Mr. Bassi Y. Ishaku, urged Corps Members to approach the sporting activities with discipline and sportsmanship.

He cautioned them against reckless play, stressing that “if you miss the ball while playing, you should miss the leg.” He explained that the competition was designed to promote sportsmanship, teamwork, discipline and healthy interaction among Corps Members, and should not be treated as a do-or-die affair.

The Camp Director performed the ceremonial kick-off to officially flag off the competition, signalling the commencement of the various sporting events.

In the football category, Platoon 4 defeated Platoon 2 by two goals to one (2–1), while in volleyball, Platoon 9 emerged victorious over Platoon 10.

The parade ground was filled with excitement as Corps Members enthusiastically cheered their respective platoons, setting the stage for a keenly contested, entertaining and injury-free sports festival.

NYSC ADAMAWA CAMP INAUGURATES CAMP CORPS LEADERSHIP FOR BATCH C STREAM I

The National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, Orientation Camp in Damare, Adamawa State, has inaugurated its camp executives and Camp Court for the 2026 Batch C Stream I orientation exercise.

The inauguration, which took place on Monday, October 5, saw the swearing-in of Corps Camp Directors, General corps camp Police, Hostel Governors and Hostel Police selected from the ten platoons in the camp.

The newly inaugurated Corps Camp Directors were sworn in by the NYSC Adamawa State Legal adviser, alongside other camp officials, and were decorated by the State Coordinator and letter of appointments were given to the corps camp directors

Addressing corps members during the ceremony, The State Coordinator, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Adamawa State, Mrs. Osoroh Caroline Chinedu, urged Corps members to respect the newly inaugurated executives, noting that they serve as representatives of the Camp Director and should be accorded the necessary respect.

She also advised the corps members to maintain good conduct throughout the orientation exercise and avoid actions that could lead to disciplinary proceedings.

The Camp Court was also inaugurated during the ceremony. The court comprises camp officials, including the Camp Director Camp Commandant, Head of Police, Resident Officer, and head of man O war, as well as a female corps lawyer.

Speaking at the close of the ceremony, the State Coordinator cautioned corps members against getting into trouble, stressing that she would not want any corps member to appear before the Camp Court during the current orientation exercise.

She urged the corps members to abide by the rules and regulations of the NYSC orientation camp and conduct themselves responsibly throughout their stay.

General Hospital Jada Donates Drugs, Medical Supplies to NYSC Orientation Camp

On October 5, 2026, in a heartwarming move to bolster healthcare for Corps Members, Dr. Boteso Makumteso, the Principal Medical Officer at General Hospital Jada, along with Hospital Secretary Suleiman Chukkol, generously donated drugs and medical supplies to the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Damare. This donation, made during the ongoing 2026 Batch “C” Stream I Orientation Course, aims to enhance the medical services at the camp clinic, ensuring that Corps Members and camp officials receive timely healthcare.

Mrs. Osoroh Caroline Chinedu, the State Coordinator for NYSC Adamawa State, expressed her gratitude to the donors for their kind gesture and dedication to the wellbeing of the Corps Members. She highlighted how such support plays a crucial role in ensuring a smooth and successful orientation experience. The presentation was attended by several key figures, including the Head of Clinic, Sani Tukur; Camp Director, Mr. Bassi Y. Ishaku; Zonal Inspector, Mr. Iliya Nuhu; and Jada LGI, Mr. Khalid Adams.

SECURITY AWARENESS: DSS OFFICER URGES CORPS MEMBERS TO SUPPORT NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT
The 2026 Batch “C” Stream I Corps Members at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Damare, Adamawa State, on Sunday, 4th October 2026, received an early morning lecture on Security Awareness and Contributions to National Development, delivered by Tijjani Bakari of the Department of State Services (DSS).
The lecture, which brought together Corps Members from five platoons, focused on the importance of security consciousness, vigilance and responsible citizenship. Bakari urged the Corps Members to remain alert to emerging security threats and promptly report suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities.
He further emphasized the vital role of Corps Members in promoting peace, unity and national development through responsible conduct, community engagement and positive contributions during their service year.
The lecture is part of the NYSC Orientation Course lecture series designed to equip Corps Members with the knowledge, skills and values required for a successful service year and meaningful contribution to nation-building.
The session will continue on Monday, 5th October 2026, to accommodate Corps Members from the remaining platoons.

PREPARING FOR SERVICE: NYSC ADAMAWA STATE COORDINATOR FLAGS OFF LECTURE SERIES FOR BATCH ‘C’ STREAM I CORPS MEMBERS
The State Coordinator, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Adamawa State, Mrs. Osoroh Caroline Chinedu, has flagged off the lecture series for the 2026 Batch “C” Stream I Corps Members at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Damare, Girei Local Government Area.
The lecture series is designed to broaden the Corps Members’ knowledge and equip them with practical information, skills and guidance essential for a successful and impactful service year.
The day one lectures were kick start by Deployment and Relocation, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Security Awareness, Gender matters and OCI on Breast and Cervical Cancer, and Responsible Use of Social Media, among other topics relevant to their wellbeing, conduct and responsibilities as Corps Members.
Earlier, the Head of Lectures, Mr. Nasiru S. Ango, while inviting the State Coordinator to formally flag off the series, explained that the orientation camp lectures go beyond the conventional academic lectures Corps Members were accustomed to in their institutions.
He therefore urged the Corps Members to pay close attention and actively participate in the sessions, stressing that the knowledge acquired would serve as a valuable guide throughout their service year and beyond.
