The Adamawa State Police Command regrets to confirm a fatal motor vehicle accident that occurred on 3rd June, 2026, at about 1:50 p.m. along the Narehi area of Girei-Song Local Government Areas.

The unfortunate incident involved a military Gun truck travelling from Gombi towards Yola and a commercial Hummer bus conveying five (5) passengers from Yola to Mubi. Preliminary findings reveals that both vehicles were involved in a head-on collision, resulting in the commercial bus flipped over and burst into flames.

Tragically, all five passengers aboard the Hummer bus were burnt to death after the vehicle caught fire following the collision. Preliminary identification reveals that four of the deceased were serving members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) posted to Adamawa State. They are..

2. Usman Shuaibu 'm' both indigines of Kaduna State while the remaining are yet to be idenrified.

The Command also confirms that one military personnel attached to the military vehicle lost his life as a result of the crash.

Police operatives, in collaboration with other emergency responders, promptly responded to the scene. The corpses have been evacuated to the Specialist Hospital, Yola, while efforts are ongoing to identify the remaining bodies and locate their families.

The Commissioner of Police, Adamawa State Command, 𝐂𝐏 𝐊𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐫 𝐔𝐦𝐚𝐫 𝐇𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐧, 𝐟𝐝𝐜, expresses his heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased, the Nigerian Armed Forces, the National Youth Service Corps, and all those affected by this tragic incident.

Adamawa Police Arrest 11 Suspected "Shilla Boys" in Yola, Jimeta Crackdown

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested 11 suspected members of the notorious "Shilla Boys" gang during a major operation carried out in criminal hideouts across Jimeta and Yola.

The operation, conducted under the leadership of Commissioner of Police Kabir Umar Hassan, led to the recovery of dangerous weapons, including knives, cutlasses, swords, as well as suspected illicit drugs and other substances.

According to the police, the suspects have been charged to court following the conclusion of investigations. The court subsequently ordered that they be remanded in a correctional facility pending further legal proceedings.

The Commissioner of Police warned criminal elements across the state to abandon unlawful activities or face the full weight of the law. He also urged residents to continue supporting security agencies with credible information to help combat crime.

The Adamawa State Police Command, under the ongoing “Operation Sanity Mubi,” has intensified clearance operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks terrorizing Mubi North and South Local Government Areas.

In continuation of the operations, Police operatives on 01/06/2026 successfully arrested two (2) suspected gang members who were on the Command's wanted list identified as:

1. Suleiman Hamidu a.k.a “MANA”, of Sabon Layi, Anguwan Kwacham, Mubi North

2. Nuni Suleiman a.k.a “Baba Calabar”, of Sokoto Street, Sabon Layi, Mubi North

The suspects were apprehended following credible intelligence linking them to acts of violence, Criminal intimidation, Armed Robbery, Unlawful possession of offensive weapons, Terrorism and other criminal activities within Mubi metropolis.

Investigation is ongoing, while efforts are being intensified to arrest other members of the gang tha are still at large.

The Command reassures residents of Mubi and adjoining communities of its commitment under Operation Sanity Mubi to restore lasting peace and ensure that all criminal elements are brought to justice.
