PDP Reconciliation Committee To Partner Youth Group On Reconciliatory Efforts. *As Senator Inatimi Rufus-Spiff Becomes Patron Of South-South Grassroots Youth Force*
As part of its efforts to strengthen the bond amongst it members, the State PDP Reconciliation Committee has met with the PDP South-South Grassroots Youth Force, Bayelsa State Chapter.
Receiving the leaders of the group at the Harold Dapper-Biriye Hall in Government House, Onopa, the Chairman of the Reconciliation Committee Senator Inatimi Rufus-Spiff, said PDP remains the only formidable party in the state.
Senator Rufus-Spiff, acknowledged that while it was not unusual to have aggrieved members in any political family, the state governor, Senator Douye Diri was working tirelessly to address existing grievances, occasioned by the party’s primaries.
The Elder statesman who described Governor Diri as an embodiment of peace, stressed that the governor was not only preaching peace but working the talk, hence, the setting up of the reconciliation committee.
He noted that the committee has been working in line with the mandate given to it by the governor, by engaging those who have left the party and others nursing same action, to reconsider their actions in the interest of peace and political stability of the state.
Senator Rufus-Spiff used the opportunity to commend the PDP South South Grassroots Youth Force for their lofty ideas, which are in tandem with that of the reconciliation committee to galvanize support and strengthen the unity of the party at the grassroots level.
The reconciliation committee Chairman, assured the group of its support to achieve their aims and objectives for the overall good of the party, the state and those at the grassroots level.
Speaking earlier, the State ALGON Coordinator of the eight local government area's of the PDP South-South Grassroots Youth Force, Dr. Timiebi Apreala said the state has in recent times been inundated with the news of defections by some aggrieved party faithfuls, which he described as most unfortunate.
Dr. Apreala, said it was saddening to note that while Governor Diri was busy engaging and attracting foreign investors to the state, some individuals who had benefited from the system, were playing anti-party politics in order to sabotage the genuine efforts of the governor.
The group’s ALGON Coordinator stressed that with the recent development, it became imperative for them to synergies with the reconciliation committee in addressing some of the grievances amongst members of the party at the grassroots.
He suggested that some of the state government’s empowerment programmes be channeled to the grassroots, as part of efforts to keep the party intact at the rural areas.
Dr. Apreala used the opportunity to present a sample of the group’s skills empowerment form to Senator Rufus-Spiff, and appealed for partnership with the state government to achieve their dreams for youths at the grassroots level.
Highpoint of the visit was the induction of Senator Inatimi Rufus-Spiff as Patron of the group, which also had in attendance, the National Youth Leader Mr. Ngowari Suobite and other local government coordinators.
