INSPECTION OF HYPREP WATER PROJECT SITE

In a decisive move to ensure quality and accountability, today I paid a visit to the HYPREP Water Project Site in Bua Yeghe,
in the company of members of the Bua Yeghe Council of Chiefs and Elders.

During the inspection, I thoroughly assessed the progress of work and expressed concern over the need for strict adherence to approved project standards.

Speaking with the site supervisor in the absence of the project engineer, I firmly directed that all work must align with the specifications and templates earlier submitted and approved by my council. I also warned against any compromise in quality, emphasizing that the people of Bua Yeghe deserve durable and standard infrastructure.

I further reiterated that any deviation from the agreed standards will not be tolerated, as the integrity of the project and the welfare of our community remain paramount.

HYPREP PAYS A CONSULTATIVE VISIT TO MY PALACE

Yesterday, the Hydrocarbon Pollution and Remediation Project (HYPREP) paid a consultative visit to my palace to formally inform the community of the commencement of a water project in Bua Yeghe.

The team, led by the Community Development Officer (CDO) of HYPREP Gokana, Mr. Peter Zabbey, called on all stakeholders of the community to give their full support and cooperate with the contractor throughout the duration of the project.

Mr. Lucky, who is in charge of the Portable Water Unit, reaffirmed HYPREP’s commitment to delivering a standard water project that will stand the test of time. He advised the community to actively monitor and ensure the quality of materials used on site, while also expressing confidence in the contractor handling the project.

In his remarks, the representative of Pat Integrated Services, Dr. Monday Npigi, assured the people of Bua Yeghe of quality and safe drinking water upon completion of the project. Dr. Npigi, who is also the pioneer Registrar of the newly established Federal University of Environmental Technology, emphasized the need for cooperation from the host community to ensure successful ex*****on.

The Chairman of the Bua Yeghe Council of Chiefs, Chief Ledor Kumbe JP, who represented me during the visit, commended HYPREP for the development initiative and assured them of maximum cooperation from the community. He appealed for the engagement of the community youths during the ex*****on of the project, stating: “We have capable and skillful youths whose experience is top-notch and who can perform optimally with little or no supervision.”

I want to thank HYPREP and assured the team and the contractor of a peaceful working environment and the safety of all personnel throughout the project period.

We are calling on other agencies and the government for similar projects that will benefit our people.

Days ago precisely on the 2nd January 2026, I met with the Chief-in-Council to kick-start the year. After fruitful deliberations, all ad-hoc committees and previous appointments were dissolved, and a new Council of Chiefs and Elders was constituted as follows:

Leader of Council: Chief Gbobe A. Nnah

Chairman: Chief Ledor G. Kumbe

Vice Chairman: Chief Monday Be-Ue

Secretary: Elder Erenu Erebura Samuel

Assistant Secretary: Chief Sunday Teresu

Treasurer: Chief Lebura Dikiri

Curator: Chief Linus Torbina

The positions of Provost/PRO and Financial Secretary will be filled later.

I have charged the new council to uphold their customary responsibilities. I also refute rumours of dismissing or replacing any chief, describing them as baseless.

I call on all Yeghe sons and daughters to support the new Council of Chiefs and Elders.

On Saturday, 27th December 2025, the Royal Stool of Bua Yeghe was restored to its rightful lineage as a legitimate descendant of Gbeneyaagooro, founder of the Yeghe Clan.
I was formally handed over by the elders of the Gbenenwakadam Royal Dynasty to Sen. (Dr.) Benneth Birabi for presentation to the people of Bua Yeghe.

My presentation received overwhelming approval from the chiefs, elders, women, and youths, marked by loud acclamations and ovations. I thereafter took my royal strides to the Gbenenwakadam Palace, accompanied by elders, Chiefs in Council, and the people of Bua Yeghe amidst drumming, songs, and cannon shots.

I accept this sacred responsibility with humility and a firm commitment to serve Bua Yeghe in unity, peace, and progress.

Calling on all sons and daughters of Bua Yeghe for their full support as we work together for unity, peace, and progress.

Long live Bua Yeghe.
