Certain conditions account for these growths and developments. These include; the right values system, dignity for human labour, skill acquisition/self-reliance, self-confidence,
motivation, will power to transform political, economic and social policies into implementable format. With all amount
of sincerity, no meaningful growth can be achieved if the people have not been given the right orien
tation to drive the vision. This calls for a sound institution of social advocacy that will change the mindset of the people and place them in the rightful direction. The department of Social Re-orientation therefore serves as that institution. The Dakkada initiative of the present administration is a sound social advocacy for the complete mental re-adjustment of an average Akwa Ibom person. This is needed to move us from where we are to where destiny prepares for us. It is time to face the powerful reality of human existence, not to continue to play the prank. It is our hope that the department of social re-orientation will complement in the Dakkada initiative. The present economic and political realities have called for social re-orientation especially. There is a paradigm shift from politics to wealth creation. It is time to remind ourselves that money is deaf and dumb and cannot answer to everything as speculated. Our generation must engage in meaningful jobs instead of begging. Our leaders must be reminded that when they give a man a fish, they feed him for a day, but when they teach a man how to fish, then they feed him for a lifetime. We commend His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Deacon Udom Gabriel Emmanuel for creating the department of Social Re-orientation to help transmit the government programmes to the people of Akwa Ibom State.
